Driving to Breukelen will almost be impossible without seeing this monstrous building. It is situated right besides the A2-freeway running from Utrecht to Amsterdam. This enormous Chinees complex belongs to the Van der Valk-hotel/motelgroup and houses thus a place to stay as well a restaurant. Guess what's the main dish here ... right: Chinese!

Breukelen is situated along the freeway A2 that is going from Utrecht to Amsterdam. The exit is very clear and from there you drive directly into the village.
Breukelen also has a small trainstation, where stoptrains hold to let passengers in and out.
Most special will be to go to Breukelen by boat as you will have the joy of using the "Vecht" as an entrance lane. In Breukelen, as well as surrounding towns, one can take a sightseeing boat tour, but also rent canoes or rowing boats.

On top of the entrance gateway, just behind the bridge it says with carved in stone letters: Cedo Nulli. This is the slogan of the Nijenrode University as well as the students that successfully finish this school. Freely translated it means something like "nothing goes over me" or more clear: "I serve no master!" ... Well, talking about a strong motto!

Favorite thing: Breukelen is in the busy connecting line between Utrecht and Amsterdam and is therefor under constant pressure of the large towns that expand continuously.
The district of Breukelen has 14.416 citizens, living in Breukelen itself as well as several little other villages (Gieltjesdorp, Kockengen, Kortrijk, Laagnieuwkoop, Nieuwer Ter Aa, Oud Aa, Oukoop, Portengen, Portengense Brug, Scheendijk, Spengen). Total surface is 48,64 km² of which 2,71 km² is water.
Fondest memory: Finish of the Nijenrode Rally 2003 after a day of pleasant driving through various countryside.
