    The new museum is open!
It's a very nice combination of a working shipyard and a museum. Untill the end of may visiors are welcome on Saturdays, and Wednesday- and Thursday afternoon.

The museum tells the story of the village of Vreeswijk, which has always been much connected with ships on the rivers. The second part of the museum is about the old shipyard.
There is information about sailing cargo ships and the first steamboats. Today the shipyard is still working to maitain histroic ships. From a distance you can see the work in progress.

Entrance to the museum is free!

For more pictures: see the travelogue on this shipyard

Also bring a visit to the friendly teahouse.

The small, but surprising forrest next to the highway A2. One part of this area is very wet. It's a favourite place for all kind of birds. another part is an open area with some ponds. Their is much natural variety on a relative small piece of land.
The forrest is in the capable hands of Staatsbosbeheer; a nature conservation organisation. The amature nature study group IVN sometimes organises excursions and can tell you more about trees, herbs, and animals that you can find here.

    Fortress Jutphaas

    Fort Jutphaas

It's a nice fortress, part of the 'Hollandse Waterlinie', a chain of fortresses to protect Holland with an ingenious system of fortresses and areas that could be flouded in dangerous times.
There is no tourist information, but you can walk around the fortress and enjoy the green area and water surrounding the building. Inside the fortress there is a nice wineshop that is really worth visiting.
