Grebbeberg War Cemetery
Just a few hundred meters east from the Zoo is the Grebbeberg War Cemetery. A place of peace and rest for hundreds of fallen soldiers of the Second World War. The Dutch fought heavily here in the days of may 1940 to remain their freedom against the powerful German army. It was a real fight between David and Goliath.
The Grebbe Line was one of the first defenselines between Germany and the main Dutch cities in the west of the country.
Next time I will place a picture of it!
Not a big Zoo, not the most beautiful Zoo of the Netherlands but it's a nice Zoo for the kids, with a great play area called RavotAapia and a nice Sealionshow. Bit by bit the Zoo is renewed.
