  • Postcards? This isn't Amsterdam!

Favorite thing: Utrecht has streets full of quite trendy little shops - definitely worth having a wander if you are looking for something special... but postcards are somewhat hard to find! I asked an assistant for postcards in a shop where I thought they might have them and she replied quite snootily..."Postcards?? This isn't Amsterdam!!" Nevertheless I did manage to find a few!

Favorite thing: At this site there use dto be an old monastery. of that monastery there are still some parts preserved. In 1582 the monastery became the location of the orphanage and it kept that function until 1925 when the orphanage moved to smaller accomodations. The main building is from 1839

Favorite thing: climb the Dom Tower, look down and look at the building where students become graduates and the Seven Provinces became the Netherlands at the treaty of Utrecht, when the Low Countries became independent of the Spanish Throne.

Fondest memory: At the Academy Building I received my graduation papers.....
