On the occasion of its 50th anniversary, the National Museum From Musical Clock to Street Organ in Utrecht, the Netherlands, presents the international exhibition ‘Royal Music Machines’. Having acquired a large number of loans from other museums world-wide, the museum hosts a spectacular collection of some of the most famous musical automata of the past five hundred years. This event will take till 30 July 2006.
H.R.M Queen Beatrix opened the exhibition on April 12th. Don't miss it.

    General information
    The National Museum
'from Musical Clock to Street Organ'

Carillon clocks, musical boxes, pianolas, belly organs, orchestrions like the 'Hupfeld Phonoliszt Violina', street-, fairground- and dance hall organs are to be found in the National Museum from Musical Clock to Street Organ. Here we tell the story of the development of automatic musical instruments through the ages (from the 15th-20th centuries) and the important rôle the Low Countries have played in it. All day long the instruments are demonstrated during guided tours.
