Biertje? by Nathalie_B My friends and I found this cafe/bar acidentally. The Irish pub was closed (who closes bar at 3pm?!?!?!) and we really wanted to have some beer, so we decided to walk into the first bar we see. Cafe De Stadsgenoot appeared to be a very nice place with a good service, the bartender kept answering me in English although I spoke Dutch with him, but it's ok, he's not the only Dutch that does it. Acutally 99.9% of them do this ;-) The place doesn't offer a very big selection of beers but they have quite a few. I was happy with our choice of place, they served Duvel and Palm, what else do I need? Leave a Comment

Nice venue in Utrecht where we saw Tom McRae and Joe Purdy on an autumnal Wednesday evening in October. I have no idea what other kinds of events they hold here but it seemed to be very popular with locals. Oh the downside was that there were a few kids here - I mean under 18's - which is unusual at this kind of gig.

Kafe Belgie one hell of a gezellige bar! It's in a wondrous location - looking out on to the Oude Gracht. It has one of the best stocks of Belgie flesbieren (Belgian bottled beers) anywhere - see my pic of the menu. If you're there with your mates, it's joyous. If you are alone, fret not; within five minutes you will have got chatting to someone. Whether you're starting or finishing an Utrecht night out, Belgie is a must.

Tivoli by Mique In Tivoli there is always something going on. There are concerts, dance-parties, back to the .. parties, .. anything. The people who come here are usually not your main-stream. But anything goes, depending on the evening. World music, drum n bass, trash, 80's, less known bands..
As far as i know.. anything goes. From very excentric to gothic, to old jeans, to dressed-up. Probably depends a bit on the evening but likely it doesn't matter much The webside has the calendar of all events. Tivoli, Utrecht, Holland. by planxty My reason for being in Utrecht was to see a gig by Fish (see my homepage for a link to his site). It gives you some measure of the man that I travel internationally to watch him!. Anyway, to the venue - the Tivoli in Utrecht. I had never been there before, and thought it was a good midsize venue. The acoustics were good (I know the band were happy with them), the toilets not horrendous as they can be in some venues, the bar well enough staffed that you didn't have to wait an age for a beer and the security not too thuggish. All in all a decent place to go if your favourite band happen to be playing. By the way, the photo was taken on a very damp "morning after." The wheelie bins probably don't show the place to best advantage!
Depends on the gig, I suppose, but there didn't seem to be any. Leave a Comment Theme: Live MusicAddress: Oudegracht 245 3511 NL UtrechtPhone: 0900 235 84 86Directions: On the Oudegracht (main canal) . Just ask anybody.Website: http://www.tivoli.nl/

If Oude Gracht is Utrecht's yellow brick road, then Ledig Erf is most definetely its pot of gold. Whether on a warm, sunny day or in the deep mid winter, this oozes geselligheid. Like it's 'neighbour', it's got a great range of flesbieren. But its for its friendly and relaxed atmosphere that I always return. Leave a Comment Theme: Eating and Drinking

Inside the Cafè by draguza This palce is a kind of Dutch "Hard Rock Cafè" and it serves both as a restaurant and a club at night. Big place, frequent live music. Dancefloor with rock on fridays and a mix on saturdays. Most visitors around 20 or so, out-of-town folk Many local bands also perform live here, mainly rock music of course!

by sandravdp When you want to go out go to the center. Disco clubs like WoolooMooloo and famous bars like Stairway to Heaven are waiting for you. There are also many more bars and discos. Leave a Comment Theme: Theater

The restaurants and bars at the city centre are usually full of university students on Thursday nights. Never did get to experience it because the visit was too short but sounded like a lot of fun. Leave a Comment Theme: Nightclub
