Bert's Bierhuis sells ca. 800 different beers. That includes most beers from The Netherlands, many from Belgium but also a nice choice of beers from other countries. Plus: glasses, books, games, T-shirst etc.

A few beers are made especially for the shop. One of these is Dom Blondje.

  • street market: Cheese on the street market

by entguy Written Sep 3, 2002

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

On Wed & Sat the street market out in front of the Hogh Catherine will gladly sell ya a bunch of deliscious Deutch cheese to fly home with. Be sure to ask for tasters, as the vendors are more than happy to introduce you to their products!

What to buy: "Sacht Belegan" is soft, mild, and deleriously rich. "Belegan" is a bit sharper and firmer. "Oud" (literally "old") is quite sharp, firm, and a good keeper. The sharper the cheese is, the more stable it is for long-term storage.

What to pay: I believe we were spending the equiv of $3.00-$4.50 USA per pound

You find the most fascinating flowers at the flowershops. I was so upset with myself that I did not pack my plastic vase so that I could put flowers in our room.
