    MEET A FEW ABORIGINAL PAINTERS.....

    by eden_teuling Written Jul 17, 2003 2297 reviews
    3 LAUGHING FACES...

Here are three ancient faces, faces like Mother Earth herself....after tearing apart and destroying their world (we had NO RIGHT doing this....it was/is a CRIME) we now can perhaps show some respect for those who are still with us!

Keep in mind that they don't wan't to share their world with us, their culture, lives and thoughts.....no, they paint because they LOVE painting and the painting doesn't exist for them the very moment it is finished......

Forget that they would do it for us......

Here, 3 sweet, laughing faces.....earth....they know what it means to be part of that phenomenon EARTH.......we DON'T for sure.....poor we!
THEY know the true meaning of the word RESPECT......we DON'T for sure.....poor we!

    HUMMING...PAINTING...HOUR AFTER HOUR...TIME ??

    FACILITIES:

In the groundfloor you will find the Museum store / shop with books, CDs, postcards and authentic Australian products.....

Here you can also purchase the richly illustrated catalogue of the museum.

Next to the shop there is a section where you can buy Aboriginal art!
These items are bought directly from Aboriginal Art cooperations.

For a cup of coffee, a sandwich or something else you can go to the Museum café.

In the auditorium videos are shown and regular workshops are held there too.

Computers on every floor will provide you with more information on artwork and artists and you can also spend some quiet time at the reading-table where you can browse through the books on display.

This museum is WHEELCHAIR USER FRIENDLY!

    ABORIGINAL ART

    by eden_teuling Written Jul 17, 2003 2297 reviews
    TIME IS OF NO IMPORTANCE

This colourfull piece of art was made by JOE PWERLE ROSS and it is titled: HONEY EATER DREAMING 1990

    THE MUSEUM BUILDING :

This building was erected in 1884.
In 1938 a new façade was built in the FUNCTIONALISM STYLE.

Thanks to the then also added new glass ceilings, daylight can enter every room of the Museum.

While visiting, do pay attention (and don't forget!) to the COURTYARD : the pavement is designed after a painting by the famous Aboriginal Artist HELICOPTER !

The Aboriginal Art Museum is part of the MUSEUMKWARTIER in Utrecht......

COME ON, LET'S GO TO THE MUSEUM QUARTER OF UTRECHT

    MUSEUMKWARTIER UTRECHT.

This MUSEUMKWARTIER is situated in the southern part, the old part, of the city.
It is easy to reach by PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION, ON FOOT, BY BIKE OR BY CAR.

It is a string of canals, Medieval houses, churches, galleries, museums, little atmospheric restaurants. In this treasure trove you can find the history, richness, art and culture of UTRECHT.

The DOMTOWER (which of course you can/must climb!) which is more than 6 CENTURIES old and 1120 meters in height is the highlight of this tour.

    The 'Dick Bruna' exhibition.
Most Dutch know him from his 'Nijntje' childrenbooks (see the picture) but he did much more.
The exhibit shows the different aspects of his work.

    Centraal Museum
The museum houses a vast collection of art, fashion, toys and furniture. There is a permanent Dick Bruna (animator) exhibition.
