Hahaha, this is not exactly how it looks. Hmmm, you think, wow, great weather... hmmm, sitting outside, in this gorgeous weather, that is great!!! But don't let it fool you, haha, because it actually was quite cold! The sun was great though, but the temperature wasn't. Hahaha, look at the next few pictures, and see what some of us did to get warm again, after sitting an hour outside :-))
She let her boots get nice and warm, and defrosted her feet as well. Everyone laughed of course :-)
But I have to admit that I was quite envious of these boots, getting nice and warm, while I was standing on the cold floor!
This turned out to be a bit of a hilarious moment. When we entered the Dom church, Xowe went immediately to the floor heating. Hahaha, she didn't think twice and started taken off her boots. She was so cold, and the air was so nice and warm, that she decided to warm her feet.
I was wandering around downtown and suddenly I saw something on a table in a restaurant... It was a cat! But it was so still so I wasn't sure weather it's alive or stuffed. Well I had to look at it again and it was breathing... So if you like eating with cats....
The roads around Utrecht are a disaster. There are so many crossings that you easily can get lost. So bring along a good roadmap when you are here. You can best leave your car in the parkinglot at the Jaarbeurs behind the central trainstation. The Jaarbeurs is by the way a good place to explore several exhibitions (about toys, holidays and furniture for example).
On the picture: touristic roadsigns in teh heart of town.
Buying some typical local products may harm your amount of teuro's (=Euro)as the Germans already call them. The fish which is sold in the old 'Zuiderzee-cities' as Harderwijk and Elburg is sold very well to tourists as the locals do buy it n the harbour or just non touristic fish-shops as the price may be half!
Enjoy the good weather and as you are traveling with the family, bring some food and drinks in a cooled container with you so you can eat it on the fields enjoying the view over the 'Veluwemeer' the former 'Zuiderzee'.
NEVER try to go into Utrecht by car! It is a mess here. Almost every street has been broken open and they are one-way routes. Signs are not posted very well and you can drive around in circles forever.
Just take a cab. The're not too expensive and can go where a normal car can't. So you will see a lot more of the city and don't get stressed of not finding your way.
The bus also takes you everywhere, but it is slow and stops at every corner. Since Utrecht is not that big, I prefer to walk and go to the further away sight-seeings by taxi.
Okay Xowe... time to go again! Put on your shoes :-))
There is lots more to see in Utrecht!
There are many castles and stately homes in the province. Not all of them can be visited, so inform first before you go there.
