From 1915-1950 passenger trains used to stop here, and until 1986 freight trains.

Vinkeveen is a village in the province Utrecht, about 20 km from Amsterdam.
A well marked 12 km hike from the Dutch Touring Club ANWB starts next to the former train station of Vinkeveen.
Especially the first half of the hike is really beautiful, through polder and pasture, over unpaved trails. The second half of the hike is mainly over asphalt.
The first part of the trail is over a former railway, and parts of the railway bridges are still visible.
There is a map of the hike among the pictures.

The Heilige Hart van Jesus Kerk (Holy Hearth of Jesus Church) in Vinkeveen dates back to 1883.
It was designed by the architect Alfred Tepe.
The tower was originally not as tall as it is now. In 1914 the spire was blown off, and instead of just replacing it, it was decided to add a segment to the tower as well.
