    Oriental Garden - Koudekerke

    by pieter_jan_v Updated Jul 23, 2013

It's a surprise to find 2 Wok restaurants at a small place like Koudekerke.
The amount of summertime tourists probably are the reason why.

The Oriental Palace is located at almost the heart of Koudekerke; in a side street of the Church square (well the square is a round one).

The restaurant has a red interior making it a cosy place.

The're's a buffet for starters and dinners. Dinners can be baked or Boiled & Wokked.

The floor at the baking area was a bit greasy and I had my doubt about the freshness of some of the food items.

Nonetheless the cook was very good and even added some garlic at request.

    Businesshours:
    Tu-Th: 4.30PM - 9PM
    Fr-Sa: 4.30PM - 10.30PM
    Su: Noon - 10PM

There are special group (15 persons or more) offers with buffets starting from Euro 10.00.

    Also takeaway.

Favorite Dish: The sate was the best around; fish is second.

Pangsit Goreng was an excellent sidedish.

    Strandpaviljoen De Zilvermeeuw

    by pieter_jan_v Updated Jul 15, 2013

De Zilvermeeuw is one of a handful of wooden "strandpaviljoens" located at the Koudekerke beach.

We hit this diner at a very hot day and the terrace was crowded with exhausted sun loving families. The crew had to work at maximum overdrive and waiting times were long.
One of the starters was wrong and a the proper one was brought with a free beer as a compensation.
It lasted almost 1.5 hours for the Main course to arrive (after complaining). One of the fish dishes was not fresh anymore and was prepared new, Well, we were compensated with free beer for the whole party once again (and we already changed to large glasses due to the hot summer weather).

I think I heard at least 5 excuses from the crew, mostly youngster on a summer job they might have had other expectations from (boring rainy days at the beach perhaps).

Despite the time it took to get our food, it was great. The salads were the freshest around!

I think it's good to visit this place at a quiet day when temperatures are below 25 deg C.

Favorite Dish: Onionsoup, mixed fish dinner with french fries, baked potatoes and a fresh salad.

De Wok van Walcheren 2 more images

    by pieter_jan_v Updated Aug 9, 2010

De Wok van Walcheren is an Oriental restaurant with live cooking.
For the main menu you select the raw ingredients and a cook will either wok (boil & bake) or bake (Tie-Pan Yaki) the food of your liking to your liking. Prepared side dishes are available at the buffet. Soup or fingergood (Sushi and more) is available as a starter. Desserts range from fruits to icecream and chocolate goodies.

The unlimited Euro 18,50 buffet dinner at Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays is a big hit.
Drinks are charged separate from the fixed price food.

The food is fresh and is replaced by even fresher food at regular intervals.

The restaurant is child friendly with a number of play corners.

    Business hours:
    Mo: 4PM - 10PM
    Tu: Closed
    We-Su: 4PM - 10PM

Favorite Dish: As it's all buffet it's hard to tell what's the best. I have a little preference for the Mongo fresh meat/sea food baking with garlic and peppers.
