One of the highlights on every Serooskerke Day is the performance of brass band EMM, well known to regular readers of this page.
They usually start around noon and play at least an hour or so. The choice of songs is suitable for casual listeners. This year they played for example a marvellous interpretation of Toto songs, excellently performed under harsh circumstances.
You can find EMM on almost all Annual village Days on the former island of Walcheren, but the concert at home in Serooskerke is of course the best!

e ever enjoyable and addicting carrousel!
Not really typical folklore from Serooskerke, but well...it's all about fun isn't it. Only sometimes I wonder, who enjoy most: the children or their parents!
1 ride is 1 Euro. Unfortunately the maximum age is 6 years.

n this game, 8 feet got fixed on a plank and you have to run as fast as possible.
This guarantees some of the most hilarious situations in Serooskerke ever! Actually the children hardly can't finish without coaching!

ne of the highlights on Queens Day in Serooskerke is the procession through the village with brassband EMM.
The procession always starts in The Zandput, and slowly progresses through the decorated streets to finally end up on the field behind the Zandput where the national anthem is performed.

Playback shows are, especially for the kids, a great way to make fun together.
They dress up like their famous idols and practise some dance steps and other characteristics and move their lips like they sing themselves. The audience will clap and encourage them enthousiastically.
In Serooskerke you can enjoy this event on special occasions like Queens Day (30/4).

On Queens Day kids may like to show their creativity by painting or drawing on a white t-shirt that is supplied by the organisation.
Not surprisingly most of the boys copy either Ajax or Feyenoord soccer outfits. Girls seems to be more into flowers, angels, animals and that kinda stuff.

Queens Days (30th April-each year) on Serooskerke are especially for the kids big fun.
One of the festivities involves the bicycle decoration competition.
At this occasion kids -or actually their parents- are encouraged to decorate their bicycles or other means of transport.
Of course they use an overload of orange -the national colour- and the colours of our flag (red, white and blue). Materials are supplied by the committee.
So...if you're around with your kids...
