Originally built in 1739 as a fortress mill this old Dutch flourmill was the first in the area to be made of stone. The windmill was restored after being severely damaged in World War II. The windmill was named after a French Hound race (Braque).

The only belfry in Holland (1375). Heavily damaged during Worl War II, afterwards restored in its old splendour. In the tower of the belfry stands the wooden statue of Jantje van Sluis, Flanders oldest carillon player. From the tower you have a mangificent view of the beautiful Zealand Flanders scenery.

Buildings in Sluis

The best thing is that there is no modern skyline or huge trucks... The archidecture is very nice and beautiful and makes you enjoy the town very much.. If you planned to stay here for few hours, then now you don´t want to leave before the day is over..

Beside the canal

Like windmills, so are the canals part of Netherlands.. You will know what I mean when visiting there.. :)

Sluis is beside a canal and you can enjoy your box of cocolates while siting beside it and taking the time off..

Windmill

I don´t think no city in Netherlands could manage without a windmill. Neither can Sluis, this beauty was builded 1739. But as you drive around the country you find something interesting in every mill and see how different they are from each other

It is really nice to go around the town, because it is small and nice. You don´t feel that speed and hurry here like you can in the big citys.. You can only sit back and relax....
