Scenic route along Deltaworks

by ATLC

To describe that most scenic route a bit more:Brugge to Terneuzen and then take the 6 km long tunnel to Goes.Turn your steering wheel west direction Middelburg and then choose the N57 all the way up to Hellevoetsluis/Brielle (where I live). This takes you along the famous Deltaworks: Veergatsedam, Oosterscheldedam, Brouwersdam, Haringvlietdam.See map and more information:http://www.deltawerken.com/Deltaworks/23.htmlAlong the way I suggest you take a tiny detour to the small old town Veere. Even though I live nearby, I still go there at least once a year just to enjoy.And/or visit Neeltje Jans (http://www.neeltjejans.nl/index.php/en/home), where there's a visitors center about the Deltaworks. From Brielle (the end of the N57) you get on the A15 towards Rotterdam, then A4, A13 and A4 again to Schiphol.Off the beaten path: before you turn on the A15, choose Rozenburg instead of Rotterdam and...

Zeeland bridge

by ATLC

The Zeelandbrug (Zeeland bridge) is the longest bridge in The Netherlands (just over 5 kms), connecting the islands Noord-Beveland and Schouwen-Duiveland. In it's time it was also the longest in Europe. In 1999 the Oresund bridge between Sweden and Denmark was finished, spanning 7.8 kms. There used to be toll from 1965 (when the bridge was built) but since 1993 it is free. The bridge has two lanes and a narrow cycling path. Overtaking is prohibited, and there is no possibility to stop. There is also constant speed control, so best to keep to the speed limit! There's more information and a video at the link below.

busses and so on....

Cars are allowed in Sealand, although in some islands up north in Holland, tourist can't get here with there own car. Luckely you can take your own car, bike or any other transportation you like. We don't have subways in sealand. We do have a small airport, but that's more for hobby and private planes. There is a good busconnection in Sealand, provided by conexxion. We also have taxi's ofcourse, but if you want to use them you have to call a taxicompany.During the summer, there are free busses going from Renesse centre to the beach. These busses have an open roof and are always purple and there is sand on the floors. Renesse lies amidst 17 km's of beach. So you can choose.

Westerschelde tunnel

by tompt

Zeeland has lots of water and some islands to visit, in the old days there were ferries from one island to the other, today there are very long bridges or tunnels. Like the newest tunnel the Westerschelde tunnel, as the name suggests running under the Westerschelde. It is a bored tunnel with a length of 6.6 kilometres. There are two tunnel tubes with two lanes in each tube. The deepest point lies 60 metres below sea level.Therefor its very steep when you enter the tunnel and it seems it will never stop. If you are afraid for tunnels this is not a good choice, otherwise the tunnel will save you lots of time. The basic toll fee:- for cars € 4,10 - for lorries € 15,40. - cars with trailer € 6,15- lorrie with length over 12 meters € 20,50 Toll fees per passage in euros, incl. 19% VAT.

How to get there?

by Helga67

Coming by car, there is only one highway in Zeeland. The A58 goes from Bergen op Zoom to Vlissingen (passing Zuid Beveland and Walcheren). There are, of course, other connections via major roads coming from the north or east and bringing you to the other regions Tholen, Schouwen-Duiveland and Noord Beveland. Bring a good road map.
