Private horse taxi

You have several ways to stroll in this romantic village. Traditionally your two feet, a bike, although i didn't see a "bike to hire" shop, so take your own bike. But i saw this horse taxi in the mainstreet. I think it was a private, and local transport.
Second picture : sailing equipment, popular in Netherland, land of water and lakes

The shortest way to Middelburg, Domburg and finally Veere in Sealand will take about 1hr.30minutes. But than you have to cross the Westernscheldetunnel, a tunnel to cross- 6.600 meters with your lights on - Tax 4.60 euro one way. But i is really the shortest way; If you take the way via Antwerp, it will cost you time and petrol

Bridges and dams, essential connections

Typical churchtower of Middelburg

Trains run from Brabant only towards Goes, Middelburg and Vlissingen. Coming from England, Flushing (Vlissingen) is the harbour that connects with Sheerness. The province is best entered by car, but - for real sightseeing - put the bikes on the back of the car.
Best way is - how can it be any different - by boat. However, not for many a possibitlity. Bikes are a blessing and will give you a perfect joy of the sea and land. Many dikes are prohibited for cars, which makes biking even more pleasant. By car on can best cross the larger distances. Frequent busservices are between most towns and villages.
Brandnew (March 2003) is the 6,6 km long tunnel that finally makes a fysicle connection with the Dutch part in Belgium (Zeeuw Vlaanderen). It's again a technological masterpiece and makes the traveltime a lot shorter then the old ferries, though they keep bringing back nostalgia about the times that going by boat was a must and the connection with the water was a lot stronger. Still foot/bike-ferries go from Vlissingen to Breskens.

Busses

There was a time when you could come here by plane, but the days that this place had an airfield are over. When you're going to go here you either use your own transport or you take the bus. And that's a bit of a let-down; the connection by bus between Middelburg and Veere isn't perfect. Although it's just a small distance there simply aren't going enough busses each hour, and I had to wait for a bus back a little too long for my liking, as I really had seen everything and wanted to go back to Middelburg, where I hadn't. Once you arrive in Veere memorize the schedule of the bus back and spend your time well. Make sure you catch the bus, Veere is nice but not a place to get stuck in! Of course you can always go back to the Campveerse Toren to have another drink, but it's a bit of a walk.

VEERE SEEN FROM THE DYKE

Parking seems to be free but can be a problem in high season. Don't worry if it looks like you are parking on the edge of town. Veere is quite small and walkable.
