The patrol craft Wytvliet waits in the Vlissingen locks to enter the Schelde-Rijn-Kanaal (canal). Just opposite the train station, the locks allow boats to traverse the entire peninsula. In particular, Middelburg is only five miles away, although waiting for the intervening bridges to be raised can cause the trip to take hours.

Dating back to 1699, this round stone windmill sits on the Westerschelde dike is a landmark that has been repeatedly restored over the years.
