lack of daylight
Be warned if you go to Vlissingen in winter as you will find that there's hardly enough daylight to keep you awake! I went in November and as someone who can suffer from S.A.D syndrome - i.e. u get crabby and lethargic if you don't get enough sunlight, it can be a hard place to be at that time of year! Seriously, I woke up and it was dark and it felt like I only had 6 hours of daylight a day - it was bad, also as a seaside town there isnt much to do there at that time of year as it can get quite chilly - best to head for the next largest town which is Middleburg so that at least you can get to do some shopping!
- Study Abroad
Before entering Vlissingen you have to cross the Kanaal door Walcheren (the canal to Middelburg) via draw bridges. At times these are opened to allow the passage of ships.
