The beach in Vrouwenpolder is very nice. Even in winter there are quite a few people going for walks or walking their dogs. Not many were as crazy as us flying a kite in a snowstorm tho ;)

I forgot the name of this place (if it has one ;) but as there is only one chipper in Vrouwenpolder "downtown" you can't miss it really. It's a take away serving the Dutch specialties such as chips, frikandel, sate etc. There's one table to eat inside even.
Favorite Dish: Large Chips with sate sauce. They were very tasty actually!

As in many Dutch coastal villages there is a pavilion at Vrouwenpolder's beach as well of course. Especially in winter it was nice to come here for a hot drink after having spent some time at the ice cold beach. There even is a fireplace in the middle of the room here!
Favorite Dish: A hot chocolate and a tissue for the running nose ;) They do serve typical Dutch snacks here too but only came for drinks.

Favorite thing: After a while when my neck gets sore and my kite gets bored I love climbing the wooden steps to one of the beach pavillons for a hot chocolate or a beer, sitting close to the fire, watching the people outside, watching the waves, watching a boat back at the horizone. There is sand between your toes, your hair is salty, and you feel cold, but this is one of the moments where your notice how wonderful this life can be.

Favorite thing: Blue skies, sunshine, the sea, an old couple with a dog, a few families with kids running around. And me with my kite. This is one of the most relaxing things I know in this world.
I guess you can't have that in summer, when the beach is full with Germans on vacation, but I love the quiet fall and winter days when the wind and your kite are your best friends.
