Westkapelle Things to Do
Relax at the sea
To my surprise a new area outside the dunes/dike North of Westkapelle is open to cars driving at a maximum speed of 30 km/hr.
This is great for surfers and sailors hailing their gear,
Well, it's fun for everybody with a car just to park at the seaside and enkoy the view.Related to:

Scheldezicht: One of best beach Pavillions
Strandpaviljoen Scheldezicht is a bar/restaurant on the beach just South of Westkapelle at a local suburg called Joossesweg. I read an article in the Dutch weekly Libelle about beach restaurants and Scheldezicht was one of two mentioned in the province of Zeeland.
After climbing a big dune you can rest on the terrace with a great view on the beach and the closeby ship traffic.

De Westkaap: De Westkaap
This restaurant is situated on the dyke, on the easternmost point of the Dutch island Walcheren. It's a restaurant in three parts: the main restaurant, the closed winter terrace and the open summer terrace. All three of them face the sea and have large windows all around. Wherever your table is, you will have an open view onto the sea that is at the foot of the restaurant.
Favorite Dish: Specialties are, of course, products from the sea: oysters, mussels, lobster, sole, etc. Also their meat dishes are of very good quality.
We've eaten a really very good meal in this restaurant. My son had a giant 'Westkaap' steak which was 300 gr (!!!) of the finest beef. I had another house specialty called 'Dijkwerkerspannetje', which was small pieces of pork with slices of bacon and baked onion in a sauce of coarse mustard.Related to:
2 Hotels in Westkapelle
Favorite thing: Westkapelle has two lighthouses, a high and a low one.
When you sail on the line of sight of both lighthouses, you sail into the Oostgat waters.
The high light is located at a churchtower from 1470. This tower was rebuilt in 1818 and the light got lenses in front. The present lighthouse dates from 1906 and is located at the Zuidstraat 1 - 4361 AA Westkapelle.
The low light is the first Dutch cast iron lighthouse.Related to:
