    Proto: Tapas

by tompt Written Feb 12, 2006

Tapas is a hit in our country. It is originally from Spain, but it is catching on fast here.

Tapas is a different style of eating, there is no appetiser and no main course. It are all just small dishes. This way you can get a taste of Spain.

The restaurant breathes the Spanish atmosphere. And the dishes are good. We ordered a menu, which means we got different cold and hot dishes choosen by the chef. Most dishes were to our liking except for the beef stew, which was rather blend. So if you decide to order yourself from the menu skip the beef stew.

The restaurant is very populair, so to avoid disappointment make reservations.

Tuintje aan de Rijn: Surprising plates!

    by JeanB24 Updated Jan 28, 2005
    photo: www.rondjealphen.nl

It is a big restaurant, not full packed. The entrance of the traditional 19th-century building is small and narrow, but when walking through the restaurant, you will arrive at a new-built part, with a lot of light and space, with a view on the garden of the restaurant.

There is a good card with a reasonable amount of plates, all are excellent of quality. A nice restaurant with good serving people.

    Alfred's Dinner: Good restaurant!

    by JeanB24 Updated Jan 28, 2005

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

    alfred's diner

It is located in "Park Rijnstroom", an old and beautyfull parc.

This place has a lot to offer. It's not only a place for your luxurious lunches, but also for excellent dinners and weddings/parties. Over 240 people can be invited.

The servants are very good informed and very helpfull, without rushed up. The plates are French/Belgian/Dutch-based and excellent tastefull. Every night a pianist is playing live-music.

I could recommand this restaurant if you like a dinner in a luxury environment.

Restaurant "De Meiden": Girls with taste!

    by JeanB24 Written Jan 28, 2005

De Meiden. Translated: "The Girls", "Las Chicas", "Les femmes" and "Die Mädchen". Get it? Right! Well, this is a nice restaurant in the center of Alphen. The building is of a typical Dutch architecture known in villages like Alphen.

The plates are as you can expect in Holland: based on the French/Italian kitchen, with elements originating from all of the world, mixed into what we call the Dutch kitchen.

The restaurant has a nice and a somewhat dark atmosphere, perfect for romantic dinners or informal meetings. Servants are girls! Well, mainly. Not sure if the cook is a girl as well, but if so: she sure knows how to cook a good meal!

Try it. You won't be disappointed.

The Original Chinese Palace: chinese splendour

by tompt Written Aug 27, 2003

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

The restaurant is built like a chinese temple. The location is wonderfull, being on the banks of the Zegerplas, a big lake that remained after sand digging here.

The memories we have with this restaurant are great. We had our wedding dinner here...
And every year on our anniversary we have dinner here, just the two of us.

Favorite Dish: Pick one of the set courses. They all are delicious
