Het Zeepaert ('the sea-horse') is a building in Gothic style and is probably the oldest house of Holland, having been built ca. 1495. Remember, that is the oldest house in Holland. The oldest house of the Netherlands you'll find in Deventer.
This big former warehouse is called Stokholm and was built for a Swedish merchant in 1730. It's one of several big warehouses that remind of Dordrecht's past as an important city of international trade.

The city covers the Dordrecht Island, but three long canals divide the old town into smaller islands. Boat trips are available during the summer months to tour the canal and marina.
Every first sunday of the month, the city hall is open for visitors.
It was build in 1383 and has got a beautiful rich interior.

Walking towards a gate, you don't really expect such splendour as shown in the previous tip (the courtyard itself).
Water runs underneath/beside the town hall as it does almost everywhere in the city center. This used to be an easy way of transport in the old days.
The parts of town close to the Oude Mass River, especially around the Wilwevershaven and Wijnhaven canals make for excellent wandering, with lots of interesting corners, cafes and sights.
De Gulden Os ('The Golden Ox') is a house from ca. 1520. Today the local public library is hidden behind its Gothic facade.
