    Het Zeepaert

by OlafS Updated Feb 27, 2003

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Het Zeepaert ('the sea-horse') is a building in Gothic style and is probably the oldest house of Holland, having been built ca. 1495. Remember, that is the oldest house in Holland. The oldest house of the Netherlands you'll find in Deventer.

    Stokholm

by OlafS Written Feb 25, 2003

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

This big former warehouse is called Stokholm and was built for a Swedish merchant in 1730. It's one of several big warehouses that remind of Dordrecht's past as an important city of international trade.

    WALK, walk through town!

Walk along canals, big and small, walk through streets, big and small, walk over bridges, big and small, see wonderful houses, big and small but all you will see is old, oh so old.

Last but not least: see, admire and clime the church-tower!
REAL PLEASURE! This place is still so typically DUTCH.

PLEASE, SEE MY TRAVELOGUES, MADE WITH DEDICATION, LOVE AND PLEASURE.....

The city covers the Dordrecht Island, but three long canals divide the old town into smaller islands. Boat trips are available during the summer months to tour the canal and marina.

This old school is still a school. History still alive while noisy little children are picked up by their parents.

    Water

by ATLC Written Apr 5, 2005

Water runs underneath/beside the town hall as it does almost everywhere in the city center. This used to be an easy way of transport in the old days.

    Wandering the old town

by sambarnett Written May 24, 2003

The parts of town close to the Oude Mass River, especially around the Wilwevershaven and Wijnhaven canals make for excellent wandering, with lots of interesting corners, cafes and sights.
