Maassluis is a town in the Western Netherlands, in the Province of South Holland (Zuid-Holland). MAASSLUIS was founded circa 1346 as a settlement next to a lock (sluis) in the sea barrier between the North Sea and Rotterdam. It is also our home away from home as Hans' sister Nel lives here and we always stay with them when in the Netherlands.I love going to the Centrum and the Harbour area. Love the little shops like the Cheese Shop and the Blokker and the Pastry Shop. And I really like walking along the Canal where you usually see ducks and swans swimming.

Green Heart
by tompt
Zuid Holland is the province with the highest number of inhabitants (3.400.000) in our country. With an area of 2944 square km , we still have some space left. It is called the green heart and is a green area between the 4 big cities, Rotterdam, Den Haag, Amsterdam and Utrecht. There is much discussion on how and why to keep it green. The picture is an example of this green.... a meadow and a city in the background. The houses you see belong to Alphen a/d Rijn.
