Can you guess what time it is?
Some people know how you can read the time on this thing. I certainly don't, but if someone wants to explain I'd be more than happy to learn...
Right through the middle of the park flows a creek. There is also a pond with this fountain in it on the west side of the park.
In the park you can find an original windmill made in 1892. The windmill is originally from Groningen, but it was moved to the Keukenhof in 1957.
WINDMILLS AND TULIPFIELDS
There is a windmill at the Keukenhof and when you climb up you can see for miles (Holland is very flat). Its great to see brightly coloured strips of flowers in the distant fields.
Tulips are from Turkey
The much loved flower was first cultivated by the Turks. Tulip in Turkish is turban (so I've read). Tulips were imported to Europe during the the 1500's and a love affair with the flower bloomed.
Too Many to Count
One could easily wander the grounds of Keukenhof for an entire afternoon. All of the displays are labeled and I wish I would have taken a few notes to accompany the following pictures.
