Keukenhof Transportation

When you get there by car you will be directed to on of the parking places.
There is a seperate parking spot for touringcars, it is called "Hyacint".
We parked our car on "Tulip" that is at the opposite site of the parking "Narcis".
Inside the park you will notice some signalisation.
It shows you the direction of all the locations and the direction of your parking place, so you can easy find your way around and back.

From Apeldoorn, take the A1 motorway to Amsterdam. Then follow the signs to Schiphol and take the A4 in the direction of The Hague (Den Haag). Turn off the motorway at exit 4 and follow the signs 'N207-Lisse'. From Utrecht, take the A12 to The Hague and then the A4 to Amsterdam. Turn off the motorway at exit 4 and follow the signs 'N207-Lisse'.

From Rotterdam, take the A4 to Den Haag-Amsterdam. Turn off the A4 at exit 4 and follow the signs 'N207-Lisse'. From The Hague, take the A44 and turn off at exit 3 'Noordwijkerhout/Lisse'. Then take the N208 to Lisse.

From here on you just follow the signs.
There are different parking lots but you get directed to the one that is available by car park personel.

If you're coming by bicycle, you can park it at the main entrance. The Van Dam bicycle rental is also there. They watch your bicycle and the only thing you need to do (although not obligatory) is leave a tip.

From Schiphol (=Amsterdam airport) bus line 58 runs every 15 minutes to Keukenhof. The same goes for bus line 54 from Leiden Central Station. You're dropped off at the main entrance of the Keukenhof (see photo). Super convenient!

There are also direct services from Amsterdam and The Hague, as well as combination tickets (bus and entrance fee). Just look at the web link below.

Parking is well organised at Keukenhof.
If you come by car, follow the signs for the car park. It is situated in front of the main entrance. There are parking guides that show you a place.
If you come with a motor home, then follow the signs for the motor home car park.
Buses park on the terrain of Castle Keukenhof at the Wilhelmina entrance.

Parking costs € 6.
The best thing to do is buy a parking ticket at the cashier desk when you buy your entrance ticket.
An even better thing to do is buy your entrance ticket and parking ticket online.

A colourful brochure in Dutch with a clearly described cycling route and map. It starts at Leiden Central station (where you can rent bicycles) and is 37 kms long.
The route is signposted by 6-sided green signs saying 'Ontdek het landschap van Zuid-Holland' (discover the landscape of Zuid-Holland).

The best way to go to Keukenhof is by just booking the tickets through trour operators. Especially when you dont have much and you want to cover this place. The cost includes to & fro to Keukenhof and the ticket to visit the garden. I booked for a 4 hours tour, which started by 9:30am at Damrak, Amsterdam and ends by 2:30pm. After seeing the gardens, we boarded the bus by 1:30pm. I find this time is comfortable to see all the places. But you can also book for 7 hrs or whole day tour.

The public transport company CONNEXXION has just announced that they will start new bus lines from Den Haag, Schiphol Airport and downtown Amsterdam to Keukenhof this spring. Bus 89 wil run from Den Haag Central station, bus 370 from the famous Leidseplein in Amsterdam and bus 58 from Schiphol Airport. This means you do not have to travel via Leiden Central station anymore. Though bus 54 from Leiden will keep running also. The bus + entrance tickets are not available on the busses but at the tourist information desks in Amsterdam, Schiphol and the Hague. Prices of the combitickets have increaded to 19 euro this year for adults and 16 euros for seniors (65+).

We arrove at Keukenhof on an early morning from Amsterdam by the A4 and a road to Lisse and marked signs to the Garden. (We took a wrong turn and wasted some time escaping from Lisse). The parking fields are just beyond the entrance gate and you are directed to a parking spot. It is then about 100 meters to the ticket booth and entrance pavilion where thankfully we got our light breakfast! On a previous visit we went by a tour out of Amsterdam (10-3PM) which stopped first (after circling outside of Haarlem) at a bulb showroom-garden and then left us to wander at Keukenhof and return (through the fields with comments; lunch on your own on the grounds).

The Keukenhof Express Combiticket is offered by Connexxion at their office in Leiden Centraal. It costs 16.80 Euro for adults and includes return bus trip (on Keukenhof Express Bus #54) from Leiden Centraal to Keukenhof as well as entrance to Keukenhof itself. Buying the combiticket will spare you from worrying about strippenkaarts and lining up at the ticket stalls in Keukenhof. Try to arrive early as the buses to Keukenhof do fill up and the lines get longer as the day progresses. Schedules of the Keukenhof Express are available at the Connexxion website (in Dutch).
