A funny anecdote: as we left Keukenhof by car, we passed the lane leading up to Castle Keukenhof. I said: let's check it out.
So we drove up to the entrance and were met by a white bearded man in a bright blue uniform. Lyndsey said: he looks like Father Christmas!
Yes, ladies? he queried. We told him we wanted to see the castle. He said: but that's not possible. Way to busy with all the touring cars parked here. But hey, if you do a quick drive around and no stopping, then you can go in.
So we did. However, the 'no stopping' had not really sunk in. So I saw a big parking space along with other normal cars and I said to Lyndsey: let's park here and we can walk there. We won't be in anyone's way. We got out of the car when we heard someone yelling very loudly: DO NOT PARK !!! We looked at each other. Was that meant for us? We heard it again: DO NOT PARK !!! We suddenly realised it was meant for us... so we quickly got in and made our round, during which we stole these two photos, while driving. We then realised that this was also the parking space for touring cars with visitors for Keukenhof...
So we finished our 2 minute tour, and set off for the exit, where the white bearded man was waiting for us. Ladies, I told you NOT TO PARK!!! We hung our heads and said SORRY, we hadn't realised, we thought we'd be less trouble. SORRY again. We hadn't understood...
We left Father Christmas, hopeful that he was appeased somewhat by our apologies.
The rest of our day was spent with yelling: DO NOT PARK!!! whenever we stopped to make a photo of flower fields and other nice sights. It was a good laugh.

If you wait until the last week (like I did) you will miss some tulips which bloom early. So visit the keukenhof in time; before May, to see the park at its best.
In the picture you see that some flowers allready heve been removed.
I was there the second time, and I was quite disappointed, as there were too many people on that day. It's impossible to walk at my own pace to enjoy the sceneries cause the park was too cramped with people everywhere. Got to take turn to take pictures at the right spot. Besides, it was quite hard to take nice pictures without too many people in the picture.
Please keep in mind that the Keukenhof is only opened from end March - end May. If you come earlier or later it's closed and nothing is growing there either anyway. Check out the official site of the Keukenhof for updates on the exact opening times for the coming season.
When the sun hits harder then you are used too, you can find a lot of shadow spots, thanks to the old huge trees in the park.
