Maassluis is an enchanting little town. I love walking through the centrum and looking at the cute little shops. On Saturday you will find the Maassluis centrum a hubbub of activity as it is "Market Day"

I really enjoy the beauty of the canals in Maassluis and other canals throughout Holland. It's what makes Holland so unique.

This Molen ( Wind Mill) is located right near Nel's house. It can be seen from her kitchen window. It is still a working mill and flour can be bought there every Wednesday.

What struck me about this place was the age of the building. It dates back to 1656, thats just four years after Dutchman Jan van Riebeeck landed at the Cape and started what is today known as Cape Town!
It also has a really wonderful wine cellar with wines from all corners of the world, including a good selection from South Africa
Favorite Dish: Everything

Once a year, in the first week of October, Maassluis celebrates the Furieade. It is a wonderful celebration, with all the different boats decorating for the occasion. One year the Greenpeace was even there.

Well we did as a part of a introduction course with our company. We learned some history and basics of fencing....
It's harder then you might think, especially when some co-workers find this a good way to take revenge for annoying them every day at work :-).
Equipment: Well protection (very important), a sword and a clear mind...
The protection is needed but the mask can get very hot....

Favorite thing: Maassluis is a town in the Western Netherlands, in the Province of South Holland (Zuid-Holland). MAASSLUIS was founded circa 1346 as a settlement next to a lock (sluis) in the sea barrier between the North Sea and Rotterdam.
It is also our home away from home as Hans' sister Nel lives here and we always stay with them when in the Netherlands.
I love going to the Centrum and the Harbour area. Love the little shops like the Cheese Shop and the Blokker and the Pastry Shop. And I really like walking along the Canal where you usually see ducks and swans swimming.
