Naaldwijk Favorites

Favorite thing: Like i told you before there is a lot to see and do in Naaldwijk. But the most important thing i would like to tell is that Naaldwijk is an old town. We got a lot of history bound with the kingdom. I hope that one day you come overhere and spot all those old things.
Just to let you get a taste of it, i have found on the internet an old picture how days were in Naaldwijk a long time ago...but remember that the Romains already like it.

Favorite thing: This piece of stonework is from the building that was in the ancient days our city hall. It was a nice little old building with a special front (like most of the houses in Delft and Amsterdam).
As you can see its Lady Fortune and its getting worse with the years. But still she is there.....

Favorite thing: The tower is about 41 meters high and was build in 1930. And when its nessesary this tower is still working. Architect is H. Sangster. Its a protected monument. That means that nobody can rebuild this building or make it into a house (what i would like!)

Favorite thing: This antenna is for the television and radio connection to the houses. So if something happens with this thing, it will be very quiet in Naaldwijk. Some one as on the first page, but from a different angle.

Favorite thing: This is a part of the curch. The oldest part is the tower. Not the top part but the part from the bodum. This is build in the 13th century. The tower is rebuild ones (maybe more times) to make it higher. Probably in 1472 when the tower was hit by lightening. A big fire demolished half of the tower. The big stones are the first stones, the little ones are the ones they used for rebuilding.

Favorite thing: Remember the oldest church of Naaldwijk (the one in the spotlights???) well one day after a fire they wanted to make the whole church higher and had not enough of the old stones they used the small, little stones. As a memory to Hendrik IV, Lord of Naaldwijk 1445 - 1496, who is the one who demanded the rebuilding of the church, they have hang his wapon (sign) in the church.

Favorite thing: This logo will be replaced for a new one...havent got a clue what that will be, but maybe i can tell you later in an other update, with Naaldwijk pictures.
Maybe i will add some more pictures of the auction too, in a travelogue. There is so much i can tell you about it that its worth making a travelogue.
You can also make a tour in the auction. You can see whats going on inside (see also Plendil) and smell all the 1000's of flowers

Favorite thing: Is a yearly returning events the biggest part of this party week start at wednesday and last till saturday night.

This year it is from august 11 till august 17.

As every year this event has a time that goes through all the events, this year it's Keltic, Irish, English and Scottish.
