 hdv63 Says:  The path is overwhelmed with grass because only few people are coming here. A few locals are living at this location; in fact the place is an island, surrounded by the waters of the former pumping-engines.......... 

 hdv63 Says:  At 259 Groenendijk you can see this old farmhouse, built in 1657. The stable behind the house is built in the 19th cantury 

 hdv63 Says:  Some local politicians have a bad idea: they want to built houses at the border of the old port. Say honestly: it would be a shame to ruin this beautiful place, am I right or am I right?Let this place be like it is, our region is already over-crowded !!! 

 hdv63 Says:  This old port was created early 20th century to change the flow of the river Hollandsche IJssel. It's not used anymore and now there are people livning on the boats. A nice. quiet place!

 hdv63 Says:  Nieuwerkerk aan den IJssel has two old pumping-engines and a hand-ferry across the circular canal. This unknown part of Nieuwerkerk aan den IJssel brings you at places that most inhabitants don't even know........It's not a long trip (about 4 km) but you can see some things... 

 hdv63 Says:  Across this little bridge I left the island. After 50 meters the path goes right to the Van Gennepweg. But before you go right, take a look through the trees at the left side....
