Behind the church is a fake grotto. A very small replica of the cave in Lourdes.
It is not really a 'must' but it is the only thing we have to offer.
It was built in 1913 and after a decay of many years restored and blessed again in 1977.
Every year around 15 august there is a special open air churchservice. It is in honor of the holy Mary. People from all over the country come to attend this service. The service is usually at the saturday closest to august 15th at 19:00.
The Stiltetuin (silence garden) behind the church is being created since the spring of 2004. There are several funds sponsering this idea, to make the wooded area behind the church into a garden / park people can walk in and think. It is the intention people enjoy nature here and get thinking about life, and the meaning of it.
We will have more on this when it is finished, today it is just a small park like area to walk in. In the 12.000 m2 is the graveyard, the Lourdesgrot and the garden.
From 3 august 2003 we have a real museum in Noordeinde.
(OK maybe a private museum, but you can visit !)
Cees van Lith is a collector of everything that has to do with busses in our region. He has everything from old tickets, old ticketmachines, driver uniforms and so on. The buscompanies that used to serve our area were: NAL (Nieuwkoop-Alphen-Leiden), Maarsse & Kroon and Firma G.Koppenol .
Cees can tell you all about busses in our region in 30 minutes.
Entrance to the museum ( a garage behind his house) is free.
The museum can only be visted on appointments.
