Favorite thing: Dutch weather in Summer is fairly unpredictable with an average daytime temperature of 10 (ten) to 30(thirty) C°!!!!!!
The climate here is maritime with a lot of wind and rain. You really need a water-proof jacket, since the combination of rain and wind makes an umbrella impractical, except for umbrella shops.
A good summer has periods of several days of fine weather followed by two or more days of thunderstorms.
Fondest memory: Be prepared for either sun, clouds, rain showers, periods with sustained rain, or thunder storms or, even on a single day, any mixture of these. However, the air freshens up after that, unlike other parts of the world, which then resemble saunas.
In spite of that Noordwijk aan Zee is the most beautiful sea-side resort of the Netherlands.

Favorite thing: Parking in the town is allowed under payment.
I wasn't able to find a parking place without pay and make sure you pay it otherwise the ticket can be 50 EUR.
From 9 PM to 10 AM parking on the road that goes right in front of the sea, is free.

Favorite thing: When we drive into direction of Noordwijk I enjoy my way passing this beautiful statue of an Dutch-Indies lady (whose Indo-European descendants are named "Indo"). It is a war-monument, but to me she is even more special because I've been born in the Dutch-Indies ... and I am an Indo, too.
Fondest memory: My parents have lost family and friends in the WW II. This kneeling down lady shows in a very modest way her alliance with the war-victims of the Dutch-Indies colony of Holland who gave their lives in freedom (1945-1950). Even there was some commotion about her topless body by officials ... they probably didn't know the women are dressed that way and walked around in "sarungs" in the Dutch-Indies. I am really fond of this Beatiful Lady Statue

Favorite thing: You may notice the (barb) wires on the side of the dunes. I think they are there for the purpose. I guess they [locals] are trying (hard) to keep the dunes as the way it is - and also trying to keep those grass on the dunes, so that the whole town wouldn't be covered in sand.
So, as much as you'd like to go walk on the dunes, be careful where you go. I quess crossing the wires might became expensive...
...too bad though. For example the dunes between Noordwijk and Katwijk look so "inviting"...
