Many people like steam trains and other trains. You can still enjoy a steam train ride from Ouddorp. Combined with a boat trip if you like. The schedule is at the link below. The rest of the website is in Dutch, but of course you can browse the photos there!

Small, simple restaurant, completely full on a Friday evening.
I ate there on 30 August 2002.
Good meal, adjacent pub.
Favorite Dish: Fish with sauce Hollandaise, big sorbet and fish soup for starters

Unfortunately, Ouddorp is not the most ideal place to go if you are dependent on public transportation. However, once you are there, you can rent a bicycle and fully enjoy all that Ouddorp and the area has to offer.
From Rotterdam Central Station the total trip is 2 hours at the most and involves 2 changeovers:
- From Rotterdam Central Station, take the metro to Spijkenisse (+/- 30 mins)
- Take bus 101 or 111 to Amnesty Internationallaan, Hellevoetsluis (+/- 30 mins)
- Take bus 104 to Ouddorp (direction Renesse). (+/- 30 mins)
- You will be dropped off at the lighthouse at Ouddorp. From there it is an 11 minute walk to the camping.

Camping De Klepperstee has a 10 km/p hour speed limit on the premises. But don't be mistaken: on the roads around (especially the N57 main road), you need to watch your speed. There are camera's and to my shame I recently got a speeding ticket just here at the crossing! Even though I was aware, I think I missed a speed limit sign and the camera caught me! Duh... 60 euro fine.

For all those 20 years, I would visit the toilets at Camping De Klepperstee, carrying a bit of toilet paper. Because this is not provided at the toilets, probably to prevent littering and clogged toilets.
My sister-in-law told me that the string that holds this particular toilet roll is 20 years old and getting shorter and shorter. But I could still hold it around my neck :-)
The toilets and showers at the camping are spotlessly clean.

Favorite thing: The Tourist Information website of the region where Ouddorp is (called Goeree-Overflakkee) offers a load of information in English about accommodation, activities, etc.
There is also a map, so you can see where it actually is (Rotterdam is not visible, but it's northeast outside the map).
My hometown Brielle isn't on it either, but you can imagine it just north of the name 'Putten' on the next island.
You can see the traffic sign to the north: Rotterdam 46 kms, Brielle 24 kms.

Favorite thing: The beaches here are very good. The village is a little quiet in winter but in summer it is packed. Not only with tourists (Germany mostly) but also with Dutch people who have a caravan here or a cottage.
Fondest memory: The church is built in the 15th century. It is worth a visit. The church tower is separate and was built later, in the 16th century.
