DE DUBBELDE PALMBOOM MUSEUM

In the 3rd floor you can see the houses and shops of workers and simple self-employed persons. All you see are replicas in every detail.

On the attic you enter the....of the shadowy figures and ghosts and shadows...
There is an exhibition of shadow-showing and working with light and shadows...You may join and play.....

Off December 2003 they will transform the attic into a large time-capsule........sounds promising, doesn't it??

For still more info email the museum or call!

ADDRESS: Voorhaven 12 ROTTERDAM-DELFSHAVEN

The MUSEUM can be used by people in wheelchairs, which is great!!

The pilgrim father's church

You may be bored with churches, but this is really a special one. It is where the pilgrim fathers met on August 1st 1620 to embark the "Speedwell" to England. There they changed their boat for the "Mayflower" which brought them to the "New World". It can be described as the birthplace of the USA.

The church is in Delfshaven, very close to the museum "De dubbelde palmboom".

Piet Hein's birthhouse

Not only a nice building, but also the birthhouse of one of Nethherland's most famous heroes: Piet Hein, the privateer who captured the spanish silver fleet 1628.

You can find the house just around the corner of the museum "The dubbelde Palmboom", the museum where you can see more about the life of Piet Hein.

MUSEUM

In the heart of Historic Delfshaven is a building, an old one, that used to be a warehouse named "DE DUBBELDE PALMBOOM".
In 1975 it became a MUSEUM but the atmosphere of the old warehouse is still there.
Each floor tells its own story.

A MUSEUM FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY!!!!

A story about people from Rotterdam (ROTTERDAMMERS) FROM NOW AND FROM LONG AGO..

On the groundfloor the young PIET HEIN will welcome you and will show you how he once lived in DELFSHAVEN.

The first floor shows archeological founds that tell that Rotterdam almost always has been a city of trade and activity, hustle and bustle!
You will get to know how exciting the life of an archeologist is and what the objects found, can tell you(us)

On the 2nd floor the development and growth of Rotterdam are highlighted.
See how a little village became a worldfamous city!
