Kinderdijk (around Rotterdam), Rotterdam
Whenever you will get the chance, you could pay a visit to Kinderdijk/Childsdike. Here you may watch the best of many windmills together in Holland. The same windwills Neil Diamond sang about ...
The about 19 windmills are all over in a beautiful landscape and I love the legends behind these windmills. The first windmill has been built around 1738 and there is one, special mill for your personal tourist visit. Enjoy the chance ...
Please see my Virtual Tourist Site about Kinderdijk/Childsdike how to get there and how to manage to get close and approach some windmills ... have fun!
We went to Kinderijk to see the windmills. Supposedly that the most important windmills in Netherlands are here. It was winter, so the windmills are not open. Even the tourists information there was closed.
We asked the staffs of the hotels that we stayed in, and most of them do not know how to get to Kinderijk by public transport.
To get there by public transport, you need to catch the undergound to ***(forgot the name), then a tram to ***, then a bus to Kinderijk.
19 windmills in a very nice scenary. It's a World Heritage place.
I went there by bus from Rotterdam by bus.(Bus station near Zuidplein subway station).
19 mills were built here since 1740.
You could actually get in one of these mills and see how a real operating mill works and look like.
