Green again and those delightful lights. What I didn't make a photo of (impossible angle as you couldn't enter the bathroom) was the shower. These days it is not unusual, but this shower was all around with various showers coming out of the wall and ceiling.
One of my favourite photos of this series. Those elegant lines again.
And this concludes the tour of the Sonneveld house.
A visit to the NAI (Netherlands Architectural Institue) also includes free entry to the house.
Visit the website for more info.
Living room facing east
Note the lights in the ceiling. The original Gispen furniture. The central heating which has not changed shape till the present day. The only difference now would be that the curtains would be to the floor.
Visit to the Sonneveld house
You'll find a load of architectural photos here. Not that I can say anything intelligent about them.
Start drooling. Isn't this utterly beautiful?
All original from 1933, remember!
The furniture is Gispen. The colours are completely trendy today.
Now this looks a bit like a hospital room today. Note the light right of to the washbasin. The gleaming steel. You'll see the green theme elsewhere in the house.
Two bedrooms on either side of this bathroom. See how the windows above the washbasins open... by pushing the steel bar.
The bedrooms were not large but there were about 4 of them, as I remember.
The vanity desk (is that what it's called?) is another Gispen piece.
Fitted wardrobes for the master of the house. Visitors have to wear special socks over their shoes to protect the house.
Back in the kitchen
Note the phone in the kitchen (left on the wall). And the little elevator (with the white door). The curtain fabric is also avant garde.
You really have to enlarge this photo to see the headpiece of a phone built into the service entrance to be used as an intercom for deliveries.
The sign says deliveries to be delivered here but not between so and so late. Typical font. Very clear and simple.
