Sumo: Great Japanese
This is one of, if not THE best restaurant in Rotterdam and definately my favourite. Everything is made when you order it and the price is very good. If you are in Rotterdam, this is a must.
Favorite Dish: Tori teriyaki - grilled chicken in a teriyaki sauce. Tender chicken, marinated in their own teriyaki sauce, served hot on a bed of finely chopped lettuce.
FLOOR: IN THE HEART OF ROTTERDAM.....
Café-Restaurant FLOOR is a very nice place to go ......
You will wonder about the enormous terrace they have at the back side of the building.
Inside it is cosy and snug but the best place is the terrace in Spring, Summer and Autumn (weather permitting of course!!).
The terrace is split level, lots of plants and trees which form cosy, private corners......birds come to beg for crumps of all the fine spices you eat!
Favorite Dish: It is great to sit there when dusk is coming in and the lanterns and candles are lit....
They serve very tasty dishes: their soups are formidable......especially the soup with lots and lots of the finest shrimps......and also the onion soup (gratiné....)
Whatever you will order: it will surprise you.
You can also make reservations for (little) groups / family or other......
Siriporn: Thai food
Enjoyable food at reasonable prices (to our Dutch standards anyway). Most main courses around 16 euro.
Next to the restaurant is a Thai shop where you can browse to your hearts content!
Opening hours: Tue-Thur 16.30-22.30 hrs and Fri-Sun 12-22.30 hrs.
Favorite Dish: I enjoyed the shrimp in green curry, coconut milk, peppers, Thai basil and eggplant. It was spicy and good.
A little warning: the fish sauce (essentially a fermented fluid) may not be to everybody's taste. It was recognised as authentic. I liked it a lot.
The crunchy deepfried shrimp, fried beef and fish cakes were also good.
We spent 55 euro for 2 persons, including drinks. Coffee was on the house.
ZIN Reizen en Spijzen: Food and Travel
This location is a combination of a travel agency, grand-café, lounge and restaurant. You can book a trip here or read something about travelling while eating one of the delicious courses. The menu of the restaurant is very good and very internationally orientated!! You can find courses from Sweden to Marocco and from USA to Australia. If you want to eat a bit of everything, there is a Tapas menu too!
Favorite Dish: I had a Chicken saté with pandan rice. My friend had huge Carpaccio. Both dishes were excellent and the portions were very good too!!! As a desert my friend had Ben & Jerry's icecream and I had a Lemoncake with forest-fruit parfait. I have only been here once yet, but will certainly come back!!!
Shabu Shabu: All-ypu-can-eat Japanese food!
Shabu Shabu is one of the hotspots of Rotterdam! They serve fresh traditional Japanese food and sushi. You pay a fixed amount and can order a number of small dishes from the menu. When you finshed you dishes you can order again and again, but you need to be finsihed within two hours. The food is delicious and the restaurant is very popular. You need to make a reservation if you would like to for dinner because the restaurant is always fully booked. With lunch there are usually free tables available.
Favorite Dish: They serve a great salmon and mushrooms!
City center: Straight from the stone oven
A small local place - where every dish comes from the stone oven. The ambience is classy and but relaxed. You can observe how the owner prepares everything straight from the stone oven
Favorite Dish: The many changes daily - you eat what they serve. You can choose between 4 or 6 dishes
Prince of Persia: Persian food
Nice atmosphere and very good foor. The only thing is that it takes very long for your food to arrive, so don't go there if you're in a rush.
Favorite Dish: Mix Traditional Priince of Persia, get's a lot of different tastes.
Mockamore: Coffee, anyone?
The interior deco is new and modern, it was rather busy and have to wait for a seat.
This is a 'SELF-SERVICE' cafe, so you need to order and serve it yourself.
They have bagels, some sandwiches as well the famous Dudok cakes.
Favorite Dish: Like the fresh brew coffee.
A nice break for chilling after a hard day shopping around the centre of Rotterdam.

Dudok: Great choices
Its located in one of the older buildings of Rotterdam and it has a special look. It used to be an insurance office and the rstaurant is named after the architect who designed this building. There is a lot of choice, you can just go there for a drink too or to eat some nice pastries and cakes.
Favorite Dish: I ate the Dudok sandwich which was very big and tasty. My partner had the dish of the day which was also very nice. The staff was very friendly too.
It is not a restaurant, but a...
It is not a restaurant, but a takeaway called Panini's, they have the best sandwiches in whole Rotterdam, likely in whole Holland. Italian style, which they bake them self and fill em with whatever you want (as long it is on the menu)
They also have very good slices of pizza's, eveery time I am in Rotterdam, I have to go and get me a sandwiche, they are just too good.
MAde by real italians, so they are good (oh and the espresso is good too)
Favorite Dish: just any of the sandwiches will do, YUMMY
Engels: Good rendez-vous spot near Central Station
The etablisment Engels is a good located place to make appointments with people to meet: close to the metro and Central Station.
Minus: you have to pay 0,50 Euro to use the bathroom! that is far too much, especially if you are a consumer and paid for your drink already.
Favorite Dish: I only had coffee and with 0,50 Euro for the toilet I don't think I will ever dine here!
Traditional Indonesian kitchen (not Chinese !), and one of the best adresses in Rotterdam. Nice atmosphere, and normal prices ($60 for 2 pers.)
Favorite Dish: The wellknown 'rijsttafel', a lot of several traditional Indonesian dishes. Try also the kebab of goat, called 'sate kambing' and 'sambal goreng buncis dan telor' (eggs and haricot verts in spicy sauce).
Greek Restaurant Olympia: Try the Sagapo Dish (Love dish)
Nice atmosphere..good food and service..and you can eat as fast or as slow as you like..It's a two floor restaurant where it's always busy. Be sure to reserve your place when going there in the weekend...
There is a bar but not so much space to sit or stand there waiting...
When the weather is right you can also eat outside the restaurant.
Favorite Dish: Kolokithakia..An delicous appetizer...just try it.. Something else that's very nice especially on a hot day is a Frapé. This is ice coffee.

Dudok: A Rotterdam classic
One of our favorite hang-outs is Dudok. This is a combination of a café and restaurant and it's located in the center of town. This place is named after it's architect. The design of this building is one thing that makes this place special. The ceiling is very high and there's lots of light due to all the glass. This combination creates a setting with a lot of atmoshphere.
Dudod is almost always filled with people with peaks during lunch and dinner. A lot of people (incl. yours truly) come here regularly just to enjoy a drink with friends and....the Dudok Apple Pie. Really, you have to try this. Dudok has its own bakery and all their pies are homemade. The apple pie is their specialty in it is very famous among the Rotterdammers and anyone who's ever been here. You can order a piece cold or warm, with or without sweetened whipcream or you can take a complete pie home with you. But, the best combination can be found on their dessert menu: Warm Dudok Apple Pie with sweet whipcream and cinnamon ice cream. Yum!
The pictures shown here are taken from their website.
Los Toros: The Best Steak in Town
The best steak in town...well, so they say!
I have to say, it was a very nice meal costing about 20 Euros per person.
Great food and nice settings.
I sat upstairs on a seat made of cow hide, next to a window. The picture on the wall opposite was created using hide also.
There are large tables for groups in the centre of the room and several smaller tables for couples around the side.
It is a fairly large restaurant with seating over two floors.
Their website does contain a menu but only in Dutch.
Favorite Dish: Started with two chorizo sausages. These are like old fashioned beef sausages not the usual thing associated with the name chorizo.
Next was a 300g rare steak (slightly more like medium to me but nice all the same) and side dish of grilled vegetables.
All washed down with some red wine.
