Cafe Soif: Lovely location
Attracted here by the canalside location and a barge moored outside, well below road level to sit on. Interesting to watch the road bridge raised several times to allow canal traffic through.
Anyway, the food! splendid hummous salad for Mrs B, freshly made and very tasty - kroketten and old favourite for me plus herself very happy to have a couple of krieks as well.
Enjoyed our visit here very much.
The Pilgrims' something...: Get some fresh brewed beer!
A very nice place, close to the church of the pilgrims of the May Flower in the historical disctrict. Good food, and you can visit their own brewery!
Favorite Dish: The beer... and a smiling angel saying 'Tot zins' at the exit.
Restaurant Hiernaast: dutch food - yes, it exists
Traditional food - if you ask around - doesn't officially exist. This means that it's really hard to find a place that serves it. One exception is the Restaurant Hiernaast: their food is a mix of traditional fare with an innovative touch.
The restaurant is located in an old wooden building in Delfshaven: you can eat outside in the little beergarden, or inside in a dark candle-lit room overlooking the old lock and canal. We chose to stay inside and found it very nice and romantic.
Favorite Dish: Particularly delicious were the desserts - I'm still dreaming of a heavenly Poffertjes, small pancakes topped with sugar, fresh strawberries and plenty of whipped-cream.
It's the only one brewery in town, but it's really nice. As it accidentially happend to be a part of guided touristic routes thru the city, but it's a nice stop over to have a glass or two of beer...
Favorite Dish: BEER! ;))
