Apollonia: Greek dining with a view
When your dining in this restaurant you've got a magnificent view over the river "de Maas". Inside the walls are plastered to give an ancient greek feel to the restaurant. The kitchen is completly open so you can see your lunch or diner being prepared. When you enter the restaurant a server takes your coat and brings you to your seat. There is also a bar where you can sit when your early or no places are directly available.
In comparising to greek Restaurant Olympia this restaurant has a more luxury ambience and is less crowded. The food dishes are made up with style and are just the right size.
You can choice for complete menu's which has appetizers, main course (even in between courses) and dessert.
If you follow the link you can see their menu online.
Favorite Dish: The Greek Table.
This is a five course "surprise" diner, but you can choice not to have fish or other things you certainly won't like. First you start with some cold appetizers like tzatziki, bean salad etc. after that you get the warm appetizers like Keftedakia, Dolmades and more.
We also had a in between drink of which i can't tell what i was but i liked it.
Then the main course depending on what you have choosen with meat or / and fish. All this with some sides.
The last course can be coffee or ice.
This menu is really great if you never can decide what to take...they do the deciding for you.
The Apollonia Dish.
This dish is served when ordered with a minimum of 2 persons. In this dish there are 3 sorts of meat and a piece of Mousaka.
At the side there are delicous pieces off fries and some salad.
In the center of this dish is a caraf with a lighted fire inside (no it isn't for flambering your food)..

Ocean Pacific: Floating Restaurant
This is a floating restaurant that looks like a Chinese pagoda. The food there is expensive but very good -- somewhere you might go for a "splurge" dinner. There are also shops attached to it, but they were closed when we were there.
Favorite Dish: All the usual Chinese and Indonesian dishes.
Dewi-Sri: My first indonesian!
My first experience with Indonesian food, very popular in Holland, was great. The environment was excellent and the service adequate.
Favorite Dish: They will serve tens of different dishes on the table, and the you just have fun.
Café-restaurant De Ballentent: De Ballentent, typical Rotterdam
For years I have been driving past this little pub/restaurant on the Maas bank with a spectacular view over the Maas. It's a very very local place, the habituées speak that typical Rotterdam accent. Great fun to people-watch here. The walls are lined with photo's of Rotterdam harbour and big (cruise)ships. Everything oozes the atmosphere of the history of Rotterdam. It's stuffy, not trendy at all and that is exactly its charm.
The menu is of the regular Dutch kind: "gehaktbal" (meatball), steak and fries and such.
Favorite Dish: Didn't eat here. Just a few beers and a "bittergarnituur" consisting of cheese, liverwurst, bitterballen and the regular deep fried snacks with mustard.

Zenne: Very special turkish dishes!
Zenne is part of the world museum. It's across the river, precisely across Hotel New York. First you can visit the museum, then you can dine at the restaurant. The best is when the weather is nice. Then you can eat outside and have a wonderful view on the river. From there you could also take a watertaxi to Hotel New York.
The food at Zenne is really great. It's turkish, But not like kebab or anything like that, it's really special!
Favorite Dish: You can have the chance to take the zenne diner for one price. (30 euro and changes every day) I had that, you can still pick your main course, I liked it al. Before the main course you should ask for the big plate with al the small dishes called mezzes. Those are a lot of little (healthy) snacks, pretty cool!
Lido restaurant on the SS Rotterdam: Dine, lunch or lounge on a cruise ship
People already find their way to one of the most spectacular eating addresses in Rotterdam. Simply because it's on the cruise liner SS Rotterdam, the Dutch ship that is now permanently docked in Rotterdam. You may just imagine that you're saling the ocean while you enjoy a drink or a meal at the Lido restaurant. Especially if you can find a place on the Lido deck right in the sun! If not at a table then in one of the sun deck chairs.
Favorite Dish: I liked my beef and liver sandwich. Others enjoyed tuna and mackerel sandwiches or a toasted sandwich. All bread is organic, from the well known baker 'Menno'.
The quality of the food is good, though there is room for improvement. I find the prices a touch on the high side (7 euro for a sandwich is a bit steep).
Zenne: Zenne, Turkish restaurant
Museum restaurant Zenne (Turkish)
In winter the Turkish restaurant Zenne is situated in the stately etnological museum (Volkenkunde). In summer it is outside on a tent covered pontoon in the river Maas with the grand skyline of Rotterdam, even more beautiful with the setting sun. The view is spectacular!
Favorite Dish: Mezze.... loads and loads of little plates with starters: aubergine, crab salad, feta, yoghurt and spinach, tzaziki, tuna, olives, salads, Turkish bread and more.
Tonight (26/6/2002) I had mezze, fried goats cheese rolls, lamb with rice and coffee with baklava. For the friendly price of € 35 including a glass of wine. All wonderfully mediteranean.

Favorite Dish: They prepare an excellent koffie verkard
Outdoor restaurant, at a quay, just like the restaurants in Istanbul, Turkey. The atmosphere is cosy, especially in the summer. In those months you'll have to make reservations....
Favorite Dish: There ins't a menu at all ! The cook will ask you what you DON'T like, and with that information he will prepare you something. That 'something' is a 4-courses-menu, something like a suprise-menu. The menu varies in prices, but you can count on about $30 pp, without drinks. You have to try the Turkish Rosewine, named 'Lal'. Very delicious, and it isn't expensive at all !
Cafe Rotterdam: Cafe Rotterdam
The terrace of Cafe Rotterdam is located at the banks of the River Maas. Beautiful views at the Erasmus Bridge, skyline of Rotterdam, Euromast, Willemsbridge and the harbours.
Favorite Dish: Don't have any. just sitting and relaxing, watching the real large boats passing by would be enough.
A unique location in Central park in Rotterdam very near to the Euromast .
The place in a very old Manor house which is very beautifull decorated in old style with modern influences.the restaurant is one of the best in rotterdam, but bring your money and a reservation is needed.
Favorite Dish: Parkburger
OCEAN PARADISE is a very nice...
OCEAN PARADISE is a very nice floating restaurant cum hotel cum Asian supermarket. Its address is Parkhave 21 (opposite the Euromast, you could combine both visits!)Rotterdam Holland tel. 010-436 17 02. Hotel reception: 010-436 02 56.
Situated between the Park and the river Maas it is an oasis of tranquility but still near the centre area.
Lots of free parking places and frequently going public transport it is easy to attain. An ideal unique location, western comfort and eastern hospitality. And while dining you can watch the ships that come by because the Maas is a busy sea lane.
SHOPPING CENTRE ORIENTAL is the largest asian supermarket and offers a huge assortment of products. Living seafood, spices, articles of use, souvenirs, the selection of products is gigantic. Exotic products are being imported exclusively for Shopping Centre Oriental and supply happens daily. A visit to the shop is like a symbolic journey through the far east.
OCEAN PARADISEWalk 50 - 100...
Walk 50 - 100 meters further on and you can watch the busy, very busy river Maas (river Meuse), rest there, enjoy all ships that pass by, have a pic-nic there at that MAAS BOULEVARD: so enjoyable that when I am there I will always go there because it is such a relaxing and very pleasant place.....don't miss it
De Goulden Wok (New Ocean Paradise): lets go for wokken
We went there to try their wokken as to celebrate chinese new year, but unfortunately their quality and choice of food are quite limited.
The taste of the food is just so-so.
This building is a floating restaurant, as well as a hotel, an oriental supermarket and an a-la carte chinese restaurant.
Favorite Dish: Sad to tell, this restaurant won't allow calamari (inkvis) to be grilled in the japanese tepanyaki style, but other wok restaurants do.
The satay were over powered with marinate spice, that we can't taste the meat when we took the bite!!
The stir fried calamari were over cooked, as a result it was very chewy/rubbery, and it were not that fresh.
There weré not many choices of starters (warm gerechten), and the wantons were over fried and cold.
Also not much choice with their selection of desserts.
Their fresh brew cafe latte (koffie verkeerd) was very watery (waterig).
Eau Lounge: Eau Lounge
The Bar/Lounge/Restaurant has a really good feel to it, the heated terrace is fantastic looking right over the Maas River and is extremely relaxing.
The inside of the restaurant is warm and comfortable with a good atmosphere. The food menu has some good choices, and caters for everyone, however...........
.......The food arrived quickly, and the service was excellent, my boyfriend has the Kip Kerrie Opgerold (Chicken Curry Wrap) and promptly discovered after eating half of the meal, we had an unwanted extra, a LIVE slug. I called the waiter over who seemed as disgusted as we were, he offered to either replace the meal (me and my boyfriend feeling sick at thought of eating anymore declined) or give us a free coffee, which we declined as we really didn't want anymore there.
I thought as more of a gesture of goodwill, the staff would have offered instead the meal free of charge, on suggesting this to the waiter, he advised he could certainly not do this, and quickly reminded us of his offer of a replacement meal of a coffee, I advised him that really wasn't appropriate given the circumstances of why we wouldn't want anymore food. He still refused the free meal, so not wanting to get into an argument, we paid and left.
Unfortunately for this restaurant, which seemed pretty promising when me and my boyfriend arrived, it will be our first and last time there.
Favorite Dish: Coquilles St Jacques was nice from what I had of it.
