Today i went shopping with my daughter in Rotterdam. We went especally for the 1200 m2 shop Dierenland filled with animalstuff, food etc. to buy somethings for me new kitten
This shop is located at Alexandrium II, a huge shoppingarea in Rotterdam.
For all animallovers the place to stroll around.Beside Dierenland we saw megastores, a woonmall, hightechshops, a dumpshop with funny t-shirts, etc etc
What to buy: anything you like

The Alexandrium shopping mall has three areas, Alexandrium I has all the wellknown shops like Zara, H&M, Hema etc. Alexandrium II has all the megastores like Media Markt, Toys 'r Us etc. Alexandrium III is specialised in furniture and everything to create a nice interior. On Friday shops stay open till 2100 and some Sundays the shops are opened too. For details visit the website.

MID-TOWN was a modern music store with CD's/DVD's and more.

JOHO is probably the greatest travel shop/service center around.
It's not just a travel agency, but also sells everything for any global traveller.

The Free Record Shop is one that you can find in any major Dutch city.
The merchandise is shifting from music to films and games.
In 2009 some stores will be re-organised and joined with stores of the Van Leest chain.
The main Rotterdam shop is at the Lijnbaan shopping street in a big basement location.

Plaatboef is a Rotterdam institution for vinyl records. In 1981 the first store opened at the Maretakstraat by Dennis Meijer, and moved to the Nieuwe Binnenweg 179 in 1983. That was the former location of the famous "Bertus" record shop. The ever growing merchandise amount forced a move to the present location at the Nieuwe Binnenweg 81A. But even here 30 square meters floor space were added in 2006.
As a result the present shop has three floor levels with some tricky step changeovers.
There's something for everyone. Some cartons are not sorted, so better schedule some searching time when visiting.

Demonfuzz Records is a small shop, but with great quality material.
You will find collector items in every corner and good sleeve quality as well.
Ask the shopkeeper for more, because in the back store room there are hidden boxes.

The White Teeth Shop offers everything for your teeth. I didn't know there were sooo many more toothpastes than in a regular drugstore!
What to buy: Tooth powder to whiten your teeth, electric tooth brushes, tongue cleaners, you name it!
What to pay: Prices differ per product. I spent € 30,90 on 3 pots of tooth powder, a soft tooth brush and 2 brushes for my electric tooth brush.

The West-Kruiskade continues onto the 1e Middelandstraat where you will find a number of Indian clothing shops. They are all extremely colourful and glittering with handsewn beads and decoration.
What to buy: Beautiful colourful sarees, evening gowns, childrens festive clothes, shoes, Indian jewelry, scarfs...
I bought 2 beautiful fabrics in the end-of-sale. A very large green scarf with lovely dark red knotted fringing, and a beautiful saree purple and green. Both were € 10 a piece. I think I will use the saree as a table cloth, as it is slightly damaged and not really fit to wear it as a saree. But beautiful nonetheless.
What to pay: A saree or evening dress is from about € 65 to € 250. You can also buy fabric and have it sewn into a ready made saree for € 30 extra.
