You can take the waterbus/ Fast Ferry to visit another beautiful city near Rotterdam, Dordrecht.
It's a nice way to see Rotterdam and it's suburbs from the water. And you can take your bicycle with you.
Prices are the same as going by train, it's just more fun!
This boattrip shows you the harbour of Rotterdam. It takes about two hours. While your on board you can eat as much as you like. Different soups and more than twenty different dishes are served. Go ahead let yourself go!
Since Rotterdam is one of the biggest harbour cities in the world it's really nice to make a boattrip.
There are several companies that offer this. 'Spido' is well known. Another cute boattrip is with the 'Pannekoekenboot' (= Pancake boat). You pay EUR 12 for an adult and about EUR 7,- for kids. The trip lasts an hour and you may eat-all-you-can pancakes in the meanwhile! I took this trip once with my niece and nephew (1,5 & 6 years) and they loved it!
If you want to see the city and harbour from the Maas river, take a trip with Spido. In only 75 minutes you will see Rotterdam with everything that lives on and next to the water. It will be quite an experience to see the warfs, docks and silos at such close distance and to participate in the busy sea and river traffic which has given Rotterdam it's fame.
You will get information (in 4 languages) about the areas and buildings along the waterside. Especially when the weather is nice it is a must to do this trip. Admission is e8.
In only 75 minutes, discover ROTTERDAM and all the sights is has to offer on and around the water.
Anjoy the memorable experience of seeing the shipyards, docks and quays up close and being part of the heavy traffic of sea-going vessels and inland ships of a river that brought GLORY to ROTTERDAM. (RIVER MAAS)
I have so much more to tell you about all the different trips this SPIDO people have in store for you but my advice is: use the URL and/or email address in case you want to know more....
Good Luck......and I can recommend it all to you....
It was the first weekend in March, bitterly cold, and the boat only have full - but we enjoyed this harbour tour a lot!
They tell you a lot about the city, its buildings, companies doing business in the harbour, they show you the docks.
The tell you about bananas and coffee, pirates and captains, and and and.
The tour is a must if you're in Rotterdam.
Tour is done in 4 languages (Dutch, German, English, French), and they serve meals and drinks.
The harbour tour is excellent, as I have done it recently (I live close to rotterdam for 22 years, and only this year I took the tour). You get a impression of the biggest harbour in the world. There are a few tours that you can take, night tours, combination tours with museums. So something for everybody.
It is the biggest harbour in the world, and by taking the tour you will know why, so don't miss it
harbour tour: there are several companies that offer harbour tours in comfortable ships. This tour is a must when you come to Rotterdam as a tourist. Only by doing it you can realise how big this harbour is. From the Maas river you can also admire Rotterdam's skyline and bridges. You can see more pictures in my Bridges in Rotterdam.
At the 'Boompjes' near the Nieuwe Maas, you can embark for a 1 hour boattrip along the harbour on what is called the 'Spido' boat.
I am about to call it Speedo boat because of his smooth speeding up the water '-)
The one on the picture is baptized : 'mps Abel Tasman'
Year of construction: 2000
Construction number: 380
Warf of construction: De Hoop, Lobith b.v.
Very comfortable boat. You can sit inside and on open deck.
Coating of the round tables are maps of the harbour area so you can easily follow the track the boat is taking you, while you listen to a taped voice, explaining in 4 languages all details.
LOL even the Mayor of Rotterdam has his introduction on this tape in 4 different languages (to the astonishment of some of our VT members hehehe).
Roundtrip by boat to several destinations in Rotterdam and the mainport (please visit also my Europoort-pages)
Departure from the city-centre of Rotterdam, to the biggest port of the world and some other destinations.
