Watch the Lunatics on the Euromast

The tiny dots on top are people attached to ropes!

The Euromast, Rotterdam's version of Seattle's Space Needle, is the tallest building in the Netherlands: 185 meters. It costs about 6 euros per person to go on a pseudo rocket launch called Space Adventure. You can also visit a Panorama Restaurant at 100 meters and a gift shop on the ground level.

One day when we were walking past the Euromast, we suddenly realized that there were people rappelling down from the top of it. Insane!

    Rotterdam's harbour-scapes

    Euromast sticks out over everything

Rotterdam, largest harbour in the world, has a for Dutch standard amazing skyline. Some call it even the Manhattan on the river Maas, however - having been in the real Manhattan - this makes me giggle a littel. The skyline however is impressive and is best seen from the high tower that you can see from everywhere in Rotterdam. Go to the Euromast and let yourself be rocketted to the top for a splendid view over Rotterdam (www.euromast.nl)
Take a short or longer tour through the harbour(s) with Spido. It gives you the right impression what is going on in the largest harbour in the world (www.spido.nl).
Rotterdam has many museums, theatres and touristic (or non-touristic) activities. Go to www.vvvrotterdam.nl for further information.

The Euromast: a room with a view
The Euromast ('Euro tower') was build in 1960 on the occasion of the Floriade, a large horticultural event. The upper section (the Space Tower) was added ten years later. On a clear day, the view from the top at 185 meters above sea level is spectacular, although clear days have become rare because of smog
    and air pollution in general.

    De Euromast

De Euromast (euro tower) was built in 1960 because Rotterdam was host of the Floriade at that time. For a very long time the Euromast was the tallest building in Rotterdam. Recent plans are to build a new Euromast around the old one, so that this tower can be the tallest piece of architecture in Rotterdam. It remains to be seen if these plans ever get realised, because of the high costs involved!

Visit the Euromast in Rotterdam, it's great!
For a different day out, visit the Euromast. It’s easy to find, just look up and head towards it. The mast is 185 metres high & there are brilliant views across Rotterdam at the top. The Space Adventure is a surreal experience complete with disco music and lights. You can get cheese butties at the top, very nice!
Go on, be a devil and try it!

Climbing the Euromast, the highest building of The Netherlands !
Highest building in Holland (185 mts). If the wheather is good, you can see the North Sea, Amsterdam, Utrecht and some parts of Belgium.....
At a height of 100 mts there is a restaurant. From 100 till 185 mts you can experience a space-lift-off.....

The skyline of Rotterdam would not be the same without the 185 meter high Euromast. It is situated in Central Park overlooking the city. The observation tower 'Space-cabin' which circles up to 185 meters provides a spectacular view of Rotterdam and the port area. In the picture you see the shadow that this high building casts over the park!

You have to check out the Euromast.
When you are on top of the Euromas you can see the entire city with it's huge port.
When you are on the Euromast you have to stop by the restaurant to have a drink there.
    The view is amazing.
Don't forget to bring your video camera!!!!
The reason most of rotterdam is modern is because most of it was bombed by the Germans in the second world war.
They didn't bomb City hall and the post office, because they wanted to keep it for their own use.

Are you (like me) scared of heights - Go on Top of Euromast
A superfast lift brings you to 120 meters. Nice view from there (when it's a bright day it should be even better, when we were there it was 1C and snowing). From there you can go up to 180 meters with the 'Space adventure' - you sit down and a lift brings ya up. It's turning and you have a view over the whole of Rotterdam - even through the floor of the lift. No good for me but I survived ;-) I assume it's great if you travel with kids, they will love it!

Great views from here over the city, spotted where we had visited earlier and there are a couple of rooms to stay in if you really want to, they look pretty smart too.
