Apple pancake with sugar and
cinnamon

I was so busy stuffing my face with a yummy pancake in the pancake house "De pier" that I forgot to take a picture of the restaurant itself. From the outer ring of tables you have a nice view on the sea.

I had an apple pancake with sugar and cinnamon (Appel Suiker Kaneel in Dutch) for Euro 6.95 and a hot tea for Euro 2.05. The menu was in Dutch only. Apart from pancakes they also serve poffertjes, toasts etc.

The restaurant ist located on a satellite of the pier in Scheveningen, ie in the building tower that has Bungy written on it. They charge 50 cents for the use of the toilet if you are not a guest.

The food here is average. Not particularly good or very bad. Since this part of the boulevard has usually quite a crowd, the places here don´t really have to do anything extra to get the place full (mostly with people visiting Scheveningen for a day). But, since this place is located right next to the path you take on the right-hand side from the Kurhaus to get to the boulevard. It is a place that is very easy to find. So, it makes for an ideal spot to meet up with people not familiar with Scheveningen.

There are so many nice cafes situated along the beach. You are going to have hard time chosing only one, because all of them look great. I especially liked some designes ,so many colors, so many little things that make the difference like candles, vases, flowers ect.
Each of these cafes is a perfect place to relax, on a sunny day

Second harbour

There are quite some restaurants to choose from in the second harbour. The picture shows part of it but if you walk on a little on the city side of this harbour there you can find even more restaurants. Frequented mostly by local people. Tourists have a tendency to stay on the boulevard..

Well actually i usually don't go to pancake restaurants. But we once had to kill some time and needed lunch when one of my collegues came up with this. And now every once in a while we all go and have lunch here when the weather is good and we feel like it. It's right on the boulevard and they have an amazing list of pancakes.. 94 variaties on their list. And if you can't choose.. they have some salads and other stuff as well.

So far all pancakes i have tried are very very good.

Price range from a very simple pancake Euro 4.20 up to a complete dinner-type of pancake 11.20 euro. They also have various menu's ranging from 6.40 up to 15.40 euro (prices 2003)

Strandtenten

Strandtenten (beach cabins) are specall restaurant/bar/cafe places that are always build up somewhere in the middle of march and broken down again at the end of september/beginning of october depending on the weather. They come in all kind of different ' look and feel'-s. From plastic seats up to lounge-places. I even spotted a hammock somewhere!

The furter you get away from the Pier, the less crowded they become

Usually the sate's and spareribs are quite good. But it depends of course on the particular place

Sakura is a chain of Japanese restaurants that started in Arnhem and now can be found in Rotterdam, Scheveningen, and Antwerp (Belgium) too. A bit expensive but worth it, since it's not easy to find a good sushi restaurants in The Netherlands.
The food is great as well as the service.

Very nice cafe-restaurant with also a nice terrace which gives a splendid view on the Scheveningen harbour. They brew their own beer which you can sip while you see the sun set over the sea...

You can have diner from the menu but they also have a monthly menu for 16 euo (3-courses) and main courses from the house for 10 euro.

They also do a very decend lunch

What i like most i think is their kipsate. Very tasty

Eggs Copacabana Scheveningen

We had checked in and felt kinda lagged by the hussle and bussle of leaving home.
Something to eat sounded a good idea, but what to choose? It all seemed to be delicious!

This is but one favourite, the one my hubby had (with just the ham) looked great as well...choices choices!
