The best way to explore the wonderful dunes between Scheveningen and Katwijk is renting a bike. It is also a good way to find more quiet beaches. Take ram number 8 to Scheveningen and get out at tramstop Keizerstraat. Walk to the end of the street. Opposite the church you will find Du Nord Rijwielen (Keizerstraat 27), where they have a big choice of cheap and good bikes. Cycle to the north, follow the signs Katwijk and soon you wills see the Watertower. In front of this tower go to the left and you will find a long ccclepath that leads you all the way to Katwijk. But the path also leads to the nude beach: take the first path to the left up the hill. If you take the path to the right after about 3 kms, you will get to the former farm Meyendel. There you can visit a small exhibition about the dunes, a horse-stable and a playground for kids. There is also a terrace, where you can eat pancakes.

From the end of october till the beginning of march the parking lot called 'zwarte pad' is for free.
When you're in Scheveningen and make sure you have the Kurhaus on the left and the Pathe cinema on the righthandside. Drive down the street until you cannot go further (bus terminal). Take a little swing to the left and drive into the parking lot which is halfway up into the dunes. It is easy to see when it is for free since the entrance poles are up. If not in high season, there is usually parking space here.

Tram 9 will take you from the central station to Scheveningen.
You will find it on the left side of the train station just outside. It leaves for Scheveningen every 5 minutes or so during weekdays. Every 10 minutes during the weekend.
From Hollands Spoor you can take tram 1 to get to Scheveningen. Also every 5 minutes or so on weekdays. A little less often during weekends but during the day still every 10 minutes or around that

I recommend the Parking garage at the Zwolse straat. If you enter Scheveningen via the Van Alkemadelaan keep the right lane and turn right after the Shall gasstation.
It's 300 meters from the Pier and open 24 hours a day.
Tarife: Euro 1,40 per hour with a maximum of Euro 10,00 per day.
Capacity: 2030 parking places.

The most comfortable way to visit Scheveningen is to catch a tram from the city center of The Hague. Trams number 1 and 9 will bring you to the most popular points while number 11 stops a little to the west leaving you near the Obelisk (see tips) at Scheveningen Haven. If you travel from the city center, you have to stamp THREE STRIPES of your strippenkaart (two zones). It is also possible to walk from Madurodam to Scheveningen (around 1,5 km).

The tram is the best option to visit Scheveningen. You don't have to look for parking space, which is also very expensive. The tram brings you fast to the beach of Scheveningen. Several tram lines have there terminus in Scheveningen.
