You see them once in awhile and you can be one of them. Stalhouderij Het Fjordenpaard can arrange to take you horse riding on the sand. Rides are available for beginners or advanced and occur on Sunday through-out the year as well as Friday from March until October. The route starts from the bus terminal Zwarte Pad behind the Carlton Beach Hotel and then leads to the beach or the dunes.
Scheveningen seen from Southern way. Or in other words; looking from a natural place at Scheveningen (the pier along the harbour) onto the cultural place, where all tourists enjoy the beauty of Scheveningen Pier, and support the around 16.000 participants of the City-Pier-City Loop/Run; an international half-marathon (10 kilometers) that takes place annually in Scheveningen.
This year: March 15, 2008
No, I never participate,... just got the items collector great City-Pier-City Run T-shirt ;o)))
Equipment: Don't think too easy about this marathon and, a good warming-up is needed, watch your food, clothes and running-shoes.

Scheveningen is very popular by surfers. Many locals just walk with their boards from their homes to the beach or just have the board with them on their bicycles.
With the right wind surfing can be much fun and the beach just North of the Scheveningen harbour entrance is the place for the surfers.
Equipment: Surfboard and wetsuit
When looking for speed, excitement and want to feel your adrenalin raging in your blood come to the De Pier in Scheveningen. Make yourself a dare-devil for one bungy jump for 55 Euro and throw yourself down into the North Sea from 60 metres high.
No, not actually a North Sea-dive because of some safety reasons and measures. It is worth it, and the Bungy Jump Center Scheveningen has some benefits like a twin-jump with two of you, pictures, t-shirt with your print etc.
... and remember
no guts ... no glory !
Equipment: Better take your passport because under 18 it is not allowed to jump.
April/May: Saterday - Sunday 12.00 - 20.00 hrs

For about 9 years I practise Satria Nusantara, the Javanese health-sport by exercises, breath-lessons and intense concentration. It is because of my back does not function anymore as wished (my job as make-up artist longed for always same postions). The Satria Nusantara sport made me calm-down, down-to-earth and balanced the breathing.
Whenever in The Hague you could watch Satria Nusantara and, when summer at the Southerly beach of Scheveningen, ZUIDERSTRAND ... see info Website. Great experience!!!
Satria Nusantara At Pelabuhan Ratu
Equipment: Special sport clothes for Satria Nusantara
At the beach of The Hague, Scheveningen, you'll find the dangerous tides. That does not mean people stay away, for that very reason The Hagues love Scheveningen. Where all kind of sports will be practiced. As with low tides as high tides ...
Because of the strongly well set-up sand with low tides it's possible to go for a spin. Bike the beach ! No need to avoid quick-sand ... The Hagues guys and dolls love it ! It is really good time to exercise on bike!
Equipment: Beach cruisers, mountain bikes and the accessories you like
Bungy jumping... Too bad this activity was not available when I visited Scheveningen. Hence, this is the picture taken from the top of the platform for bungy jumping...
Do you actually believe my story ??.. : )
The Dutch coastline is well-known for stretching out from South-west to the North-east. Windy weather is essential and get the offshore winds for surf, they are the best ...
When onshore combined with offshore it is rare and will not last for a long time, take a break that day at Scheveningen, the harbour and beach resort of Den Haag/The Hague.
Equipment: Kite boarding Equipment, and take care for the half-hidden artifcial piers (breakwaters), currents & rocks.
At Den Haag just follow directions Scheveningen harbour and boulevard or take the tram. Spot is close to the Northern harbour pier at the boulevard. This part of the beach is dedicated as "sports-beach". Look for De Waterreus Beach-spot where you can have a nice drink and food. Check the tide!
Weather-ceck: Web-Cam >>> -> Weather
Extra: in summer: pay parking at the boulevard, watch it!!!

Scheveningen (car or tram), left side of the harbour entrance.
Along the ducth coast there is a long distance trail that goes from the Belgium Border all the way to the german one along the Dutch seaside. The second part of this trail is called het Visserspad (Fishermans trail) and goes from Hoek van Holland (just under Rotterdam) up to Haarlem over a total of 102 kilometers.
At every VVV you can buy a little booklet describing this route but since it is in dutch it is almost as easy just following the signs. At least the parts around Scheveningen and the Hague are quite easy to follow that way.
From Scheveningen to Kijkduin it is about 9 - 10 kilometers. At both sides it is easy to take transport back to the Hague Central Station
Some impressions you can find on my Scheveningen page Part I and Part II
Equipment: Good shoes of course and depending on the weather some other stuff like a bathing suit/a jacket/something against the rain...
The trail is easy to pick up at e.g the Kurhaus or Kijkduin. Watch out for red/withe stripes around poles, street signs and such. A singel red/white sign means that that is the direction to take, a red/white cross means it is the wrong path to take. A double red/white sign means a change of direction
If it's raining and it is no weather for laying on the beach or enjoy the dunes, it can be a good opportunity to visit the spa resort next to the Kurhaus. Like most luxury Thermen they have saunas, steambath, infraredsauna, freezing rooms, swimming pool, hot wrilpools, herbal baths, and a beautycenter. But they also have salt baths with very concentrated sea salt and a rest room with very fine drops of seawater in the air. You can have a light dinner or salad in the restaurant on the sunny terrace
Equipment: Take two towels, a bathcloth and slippers with you or lend them inside.
The Scheveningen beach is ideal to launch a boat.
One part of the 2nd harbour is dedicated to sailboats too.
ON a sunday morning a see this horses on the beach..looks me great to do it!!
Great place for much sports..surfing.. biking
The VT-meeting was on a very windy day. There were many many surfers and kite-surfers out and about performing many tricks on the waves.
