The Hague
Hello!!
I travelled a bit through europe and got to the Hague. At the tourist information they told me about bicycle rent right in the city center, just across the Queens palace!
They have the best bikes you've ever seen, the real classic Dutch bikes, the guy who works there told me it's called the "Halleluja"or something.
The bikes are fantastic to look at and they are really comfertable. Great leather seat, easy biking and good brakes! and with gears, so you can easily go to the dunes, the parks and oceans.
And best thing, friendly people at the shop, they really want to help you discover the city in the right way, nice tips about where to go for a coffee or a beer, fun!
Oh, by the way, the last day i went on a tour with one of their guides, funny stuff! Not just old stories, but lots about things that happen today in The Hague, good fun!!
Definitely worth to visit their place! And for sure the best way to find your way in the Dutch Cities is by bicycle hey!
Check out the website, it's www.fietsverhuurdenhaag.nl, means something like bicycle rent the hague.
have fun!!
The Hague and surroundings are perfect for a nice bicycle tour. In Scheveningen, you can find a bicycle rental, where you can find all kinds of bikes for rent. You can either choose to go to the center of The Hague, which is a 15 minute ride from there, or take a tour through the wonderful dunes surrounding The Hague. There are just bicyclepaths there, so it's safe and also nice and quiet. Cycling through the city is also safe because of all the special bicyclepaths; but be aware of the trams!
You can find "Bike-Rentals" throughout the Netherlands and when in The Hague go to the Tourist Information Office (VVV office) where you can get info about bicycle routes through The Hague. There are some very interesting themes and some bicycles routes are about 20 km long.
See some links with "Rent A Bike" (above), included at the Central Station, The Hague. Please, bring your ID! And donot leave the bike alone when going around for a walk. Find yourself a "Biesieklette" (by Foundation/Stichting Biesieklette), that is a special area (shelter) to put up your bike (see pic, is behind the Beyenkorf, center of The Hague). "My bike got stolen" is an upmost cry in Holland ... and do not forget to see the cows off the beaten path ...
B I C Y C L E ... BICYCLE ... bicycle
I love that song of Queen! Holland is bicycles land number one (the pic is a fashion-pic made by Spanish fashion-crew), and it's familiar the Dutch is cycling regularly every day, included the Queen. It is a most effective way to travel in The Hague, where a lot of separate bicycle-paths are. And the Foundation/Stichting Biesieklette offers guarded parking for bicycles, scooters, and motorbikes in The Hague and others cities in Holland (BIESIEKLETTE Fiets & Stall).
When on a bike don't forget to use your hand for signal any change in direction. You can rent bicycles at Du Nord Rijwielen (Keizerstraat 27-29, Scheveningen) for about 4.50 Euro a day. Also at the Central Station there is a bikestall for around 5 Euro (get a ticket before-hand inside the CS). Bicycle-robbers? Yep! Even youngsters "take" a bike when needed, so better you always lock your bike, or find a BIESIEKLETTE (Fiets & Stall Website still under construction) For info : >>>

BIESIEKLETTE
Although I did not spend to much time in The Hague, I found it to be more of my kinda place, since it was not so packed like the Dam and it was very laid back with people doing what they do on a nice spring day. It did not have all the junkies and crazy people running around like the Dam...I mean Holland is a very interesting country I would like to see more of and I am not knocking any of it, but I just like places that are chill & easy going!!
This was the place!!!
The most effective and environmentally friendly way to travel in The Hague is by bicycle. There are lots of separate cycle paths. Cyclists are expected to signal any change in direction by hand.
The most appropriate way to go around the Hague, as in the most Cities in the Netherlands is certainly by bicycle. And really, in a 20 minutes, you can be everywhere in this city.
