Vlaardingen Restaurants

I guess in England this would be a gastro pub - Malle Babbe is really that - a typical Dutch pub that serves very good quality food albeit at a price.
The pub is typically Dutch - heavy brown paneling and dark wood tables and chairs - there is a very friendly homely atmosphere. The staff seemed to be two men - one who was the waiter /bar man and the other was the chef. The kitchen is to the left as you walk in and quite small but open for diners to see and although small the food that leaves it is very good.
Unfortunately eating out in Holland is not cheap and quality comes at a price although the prices in this industrial town surprisingly match those of Amsterdam.
The service is first class and the friendly and efficient waiter spoke excellent English. The restrooms are clean and the restaurant would be probably disabled friendly.

Favorite Dish: Soups were €4.50 and €5.50 and of a good quality and very filling and tasty. I had a pleasant tomato soup that came with bread. Main courses are a mix of traditional Dutch cooking dishes but we chose the house special of the day which was a halibut steak accompanied by fresh vegetables and potatoes. The fish was well prepared and a very good cut with a sauce accompaniment of a white sauce with chopped salad in the sauce. Main courses are in the €12.50 - €19.50 range which is expensive by UK standards but seem average in Holland.
I had asked that no peppers be included in the sauce and the chef prepared the sauce without peppers for me.
Standard range of desserts which we did not have as the meal was very filling.
€51 for two people (starter and main courses) and four drinks.

The Palladion is located near the harbour of Vlaardingen what seems like to be a place to party and eat in Vlaardingen.

We went there after we walked passed it this autumn.

The restaurant is located in a old warehouse which has been restored.

We did reserve on the saturday night we went but the didn't ask our names...

The restaurant is two floors, from the second floor you can look down to the first floor. There are nice paintings all around, the only problem is the accoustic. Because of the large spaces without any curtains what so ever it is very noisy inside the restaurant. Ever table gives you a view to all other tables. This gives a bit of a cantina feeling little or none separations between tables.

Favorite Dish: We had the Plaka dish which includes a appetizer, main course, desert and coffee. This dish was € 25 euro per person. Drinks weren't included, the had a large wine list but the drawback on this was the only served botlles no glasses except for the house wine.

As i said earlier the food is really good, but the fact that it was to much of a factory for serving food and the noise from everyone talking made this a one time experience for us. We think it's great for parties but not for a intimate diner.

If you like to watch boats while your eating this is the place. In the summertime it's the place to stay close to if you want to sunbath and not carry a cooler. You can buy your icecreams at the back of the restaurant.

Favorite Dish: I had a Chicken Sate Dish and it tasted great.

This restaurant is located in one of the recreational areas of Vlaardingen.

In the summer you can enjoy the sun sitting on the terrace or just go to the back of the restaurant and get some drinks or snacks to enjoy sitting by the lake.
