This very old house (16th century) has some very striking intricate wall anchors. That was what I noticed about it first.

Zuidland is one of those village near home that you best explore on your bike or on foot. It's just a tiny village with one of the nicest restaurants I know.
Coming in to Zuidland by the main road, you first see these two nice houses.

Absolutely top restaurant in this little place just below Rotterdam. I ate the 3 course menu here on one occassion. Great value for money. On another occassion we celebrated the birthday of a good friend and treated ourselves to a wonderful a la carte dinner. A third time we really splashed out and again enjoyed a great dinner and wonderful service.

Dutch pancake-restaurant. Haven't been there yet but their menu looks really interesting.
Dutch pancakes are large. The size of crepes but just a little thicker. Although endless fillings can be thought up, the most popular are with bacon and/or apple slices and eaten mostly with syrup or sugar.

You can do cake workshops here or order a custom made cake. The pink house really suits the topic! We peered inside but did not see much other than lots of fridges, a kitchen, chocolate melting pots and a sort of reception room.

What to buy: The workshops include: Barbie cakes, Marzipan decorations, Valentine cakes, Christmas decorations and children's cakes.

What to pay: From 20 to 78,50 per cake (8-35 portions), excluding special wishes

Though mainly women's fashion, this little shop also has children's and men's clothes. Lingerie, bags, bling bling... I actually saw a lot of things that I liked. Very nice!

I was surprised to see a modern little shopping mall right in the center of the village. Supermarket, bakery, pharmacist, fashion shops, butcher... everything you need.

In the early 1900s (about 1905), the Zuid-Holland island Voorne-Putten was connected to Rotterdam by a tram line. The tram is long gone but the track is still there. It's now a very good cycling path that runs from Spijkenisse, via Zuidland to Hellevoetsluis. A very enjoyable ride!

Mind you, only for scooters and cyclists!
