Beugelen
This traditional Dutch sport, from the province of Noord-Brabant, is of such importance that it has been place on the World Heritage list.It resembles croquet but is played with a large clay balls and a large wooden "spoon" or "shovel" in two teams of 2 players each. The ball should go through a hoop and the rules seem to be quite complicated!Interestingly, a beugelbaan (the pitch in which beugelen is played) is called a pall mall in English. Two clay balls of 2 different colours. A "green", shovels and spoons and a hoop.
