Zaanse Schans
  • Tip Rating:
  • Zaanse Schans This place is unique for being kept the same way it was in 16th and 17th centuries. Operating windmills, wooden houses, museums and workshops all this can be found in the village. It is a very popular tourist destination, and especially during the Summer season Zaanse Schans is very crowded. But if you’re there you may have a chance to see how wooden shoes are made, or how cheese is prepared, or how oil is made out of peanuts (too noisy experience though).
It is easy to get there even if you don’t have a car, simply get a train ticket to the station called Koog Zaandijk, from there it is about 15-20 minutes walk.

    Cities - Amsterdam
  • Tip Rating:
  • As you may know Amsterdam is the capital of the Netherlands. As a city it has a lot to offer. There are several amazing museums, such as the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum. There's also a great deal of architecture, like the Beurs van Berlage, Paleis op de Dam and the Westerkerk. But you can also do a fair bit of shopping on the famous Kalverstraat or for instance on the Waterlooplein. And of course Amsterdam is also known for the red Light District and the many Coffe Shops.

    Cities - Middelburg
  • Tip Rating:
  • Middelburg is the capital of the province of Zeeland. It was a very important city in the colonial times. There a couple of nice museums about the history of the Dutch ships and the golden age. The most prominent building in Middelburg is de Lange Jan (Long John) a huge tower of the cathedral. Near Middelburg is the nice small town called Vlissingen with a great beach.

Museums - Royal Palace 't Loo
  • Tip Rating:
  • 't Loo is one of the palaces used by the Dutch Royals. It is now in use as a museum. Inside the building there's a collection of items showing you how the royal family lives. There are also changing exhibitions. The huge gardens behind the palace are also quite amazing. They are enormous and they are perfectly symetrical.

The museum is opened all year, except on mondays from 10 to 5. Admission is 9 Euros for adults.

    Boijmans Museum in Rotterdam

Rotterdam is a big and ever expanding city with lots of modern architecture. It doesn't have that many old buidlings, but it certainly has it's fair share of modern ones. Rotterdam is especially wellknown for it's harbour, the biggest in Europe. If you go there by night you'll get a magnificent spectacle of lights. Also the museums here are well worth a visit. The Boijmans van Beuningen Museum or the Kunsthal for instance.

    Cities - Vlissingen
  • Tip Rating:
  • Vlissingen is a charming little village at the sea. It's located in the south west of The Netherlands in the province of Zeeland. A lot of people come here to go to the beach, but it has a lot more to offer. There are several museums that are worth a visit, like the muZEEum. Or have a stroll along the beach and discover some of the old forts or city walls.

    The most beautiful city
  • Tip Rating:
  • Maastricht is the most beautiful city of the Netherlands (in my opinion). Totally different from many other cities in the country. The new and the old parts of the city have a lot to offer to a tourist. And it even has caves ;-) Well, there are no mountains in the Netherlands, so you can imagine that the caves are man made. Don't miss the Mount St. Peter caves. Great experience! Another recommended points are Bonnefanten museum, the Ceramic area, The city walls, St. Servaas Church, St. Jans Church, to many to mention.... Visit is a must!

    The Capital
  • Tip Rating:
  • The capital city. Although packed with tourists, it still has its charm. A lot of people see the Red Lights District as a major attraction of the city, while it has much more to offer. Th most recommended spots: The Rijksmuseum, The Anne Frank house, The Heineken Factory, a cruise along the canals, The Royal Palace.
Don't forget that this city has a great atmosphere and offers different types of tourist activities. Its tourism board works hard to introduce the tourist to its vibrant lifestyle. It is the city of canals, museums, events, music and entertainment and it changes every year surprising people with something new, unknown, and unexpected

    The most modern city
  • Tip Rating:
  • The newest look of the Netherlands. Rotterdam was completely destroyed during the World War Two and was rebuilt after the war. So what you see is the very modern buildings and even skyscrapers (not as high as New York’s one though.
The Erasmus bridge seem to be the main attraction, not to mention the port, but my recommendation, see it when it’s dark. The view is fascinating when the bridge lights are on.

    Rotterdam
  • Tip Rating:
  • Unfortunatly the old centre from Rotterdam was entirely destroyed by bombs at the beginning of the Second World War, wich means that there is little of historic interest.
But Rotterdam, the gateway to Europe as far as shipping is concerned, is a tourist must in spite of this.
