One of at least hree bakeries downtown, this one has a stronger emphasis on bread baking rather than "cakery" as the other "conditories" do. However, they have plenty of cakes, too.
They are a subsidiary of Vollen bakeri.
Open Mon-Fri 09-17, Sat 09-16.
Favorite Dish: Various types of brown, wholegrain breads.
They have a sit-down cafe as well, where you can devour some delicacies before heading home with your wholesome bread...

Throwing a party or a nice picnic? Don't want to cook yourself, yet it should be top notch home style food?
Annes catering will probably do the job according to your wishes. Located at Rortunet at Slemmestad, southern Asker, they will deliver in the decent distance vicinity. Check out by phone or internet/e-mail, if in doubt.
Specialty is any-scale smørgåsbord (open-faced sandwiches), cold cuts, full dinners and canapees.
They'll do and size parties and up to large business dinners.
Favorite Dish: I'd probably go for a smørgåsbord and cold cuts with an emphasis on sea food.

Big Horn Steak House is a chain restaurant that just opened a branch in Asker, too.
The specialty is beef steaks, but they do have lots of variations of that theme, as well as some game meat and good salads.
You write your own order where you indicate how you want your steak done. Quite an informal place, and the prices aren't over the top. Slightly western decor inside.
Opening hours: Mon-Wed 16-22, Thu-Sat 16-23, Sun 15-22
Favorite Dish: Mexican beef steak - grilled

Kafe Oscar is located at the Vollen Bakery at Vollen Handelssted (trading post) - confused? Same place as the bakery, but different company. Same, same, but different! as vendors in Nepal say.
In this case, you order at the bakery counter and bring their fantastic goodies to the tables with a lookout on the Vollen harbour area, and Oslo there in the distance.
It's a great place for lunch, and a coffee and a cake if not lunch... The maritime aspect is maintained indoors, too.
Favorite Dish: Any bakery goodies that suits your palate. Not being a big coffee drinker, I need a sweet excuse with my coffee, so I choose the marzipan layer cake... Good muffins, too, they have, and plenty of more...

This is a wonderful local bakery that produces their own stuff , not some kind of factory outlet. They are linked to Kafe Oscar (see my tip).
They produce a wide selection of fairly traditional cakes and breads, and do things by order, too.
They are consistently using ecologically certified raw materials.
Favorite Dish: Youghurt bread and the "Vollen Bread".
And terrifyingly, a lot of different cakes....
For Christmas I will order their "kransekake", a towering dry almondpaste cake (not marzipan) that is absolutely delicious.... They apparently have success with making these to order.
Open: Mon-Sat 9-17, Sun 10-17 during regular working hours.
