This might be the only reason for many people to visit Lillestrøm. The Norway Trade Fairs moved from Sjølyst, Oslo, to Lillestrøm in 2004. A lot of different exhibitions are held here the whole year.
It is very centrally located. With expresstrain it only takes 9 minutes to the airport, and 10 minutes to Oslo. The trainstation is located about 2 minutes walk away.
Nearby is a hotel, and some restaurants. From the Trade Fair it is only a 5 minute walk to the city center.

This is probably one of the most visited places in Lillestrøm... ;)
Åråsen is the football stadion where the local team Lillestrøm SK meets other teams in the Norwegian Premier League (Eliteserien). The stadium has a capacity of 12.250.

This is most probably the only thing you will see of Lillestrøm...
The train from the airport to Oslo pass by Lillestrøm trainstation. If you take the expresstrain be sure not to blink, or you will miss the whole place... ;)
Expresstrain from Lillestrøm to the airport takes about 9 minutes, and from Lillestrøm to Oslo about 10 minutes. If you want to see some of the scenery along the way, take the normal train. It stops in every station, takes a lot longer, but it is cheaper and lets you see more.
The trainstation was built in 1854, and was a part of the first Norwegian railway between Oslo and Eidsvoll.

In 1997 Lillestrøm was appointed a city in its own right. Every year the city has a big celebration lasting four days in the middle of June.
Many norwegian artists perform on outdoor stages. There are also exhibitions and thrill rides at the city fair. The celebration is held at the main square, the main street and connecting streets. These are closed for cars during the celebration.

To continue my Lillestrom adventure the guys in hats exited the train at Lillestrom as instructed by the conductor. It was the Monday after Easter, a holiday in Norway. There was nothing open in the small station in Lillestrom except for the ticket office. So we could not sit down and have a cup of tea or a snack. We could not do an window shopping or souvineer shopping. Even the restrooms were locked.
So what does a good VT member in a situation like this? The answer is simple. You take a picture. Because you know you will want to document this adventure on VT. Here is the picture. Littlesam in Lillestrom.
Why build a VT about this misadventure? To warn other travelors. Make sure you get on the correct train at the Oslo airport or you too will be stranded in Lillestrom.
